I have two accounts and my fighter account who's the main character is Indrick, ins't logging in. If i try to connect at Singularity Server it's okay but at tranquility is not working.... When i used the other account to check my fighter "Indrick" It shows to me that the character is online but when i try to talk to him it's not working, of course.
I just put my username and pass then i press connect... after the logging bar dissapears it's supposed to get into the game but it's just dead, like if i just started the client again.. and then i press connect again and a window appears saying that the client is corrupted and i should restart.... wtf!!! since yesterday it's like this!! anyone??? Using my other account at Tranquility it just works fine.
PS: i deleted the cache folder and still the same... so no idea...

I have the exact same problem. even when i downloaded EVE again it did not fix the problem. I looked in my Bin folder though and found that 3 of the files you need were missing.

This problem is similar to the one noted in this thread. It seems that the SiSi install/patch is modifying the user data in the settings directory, which sits next to the cache directory.
Once SiSi is installed (or patched in some cases) all kinds of whacky stuff starts happening with the user-based account settings for the TQ install. Restoring the backup of the user_.data that was created at or before the time of the SiSi install does seem to get the login working again. To do this: - Delete the user_.dat file (or just rename it to something else if you feel like being cautious, but since you were already willing to delete your entire \CCP\Eve folder and re-install there's really no point); - Find the user_xxxxxxx.dat file in the settings directory that has the timestamp of the date/time that SiSi was installed; - Make a copy of it and rename the copy user_.dat and try starting Eve. Eve also seems to recreate this file from the last backup at startup if it's missing, but the last backup may not be an uncorrupted version.
Removing/fixing the user_.dat file in the settings folder worked for me, as well as a friend. It does make some sense: CCP recommends to install the SiSi build into a seperate directory structure from TQ, but all of the EVE settings for an individual users OS login are in a shared location, the "C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\" directory (for XP at least, elsewhere in Vista). Looks like maybe an oops for CCP, something in the Rev 2.3 -> Trinity dev build settings files in SiSi must be incompatible with TQ.

I have the same issue but I already cleared out my cache folder for both installs. The CCP/Eve/Cache/Settings folder is empty. Ideas? It doesnt seem to come back on a reinstall it looks like.

like Blue Ryth into the other topic... It worked for me
For Windows XP users:
1.) Make visible hidden files and folders. From any explorer window menu: Tools > Folder Options. Then select the "View" tab. In Advanced Settings select Show hidden files and folders. Click Apply.
2.) Navigate to: Local Disk > Documents and Settings > Your User > Local Settings (**Hidden folder**) > Application Data > CCP > EVE > settings
In this folder, delete the file "user_.dat"
3.) Examine the timestamp of the other user_01234567.dat files (the numbers are arbitrary), and locate a file from before your SiSi install. Rename it to "user_.dat"

Thanks, I'm working on XP and wasn't able to log on one computer and was working on another just with one specific char, I just delete files in : "c:\Documents and Settings\...\Local Settings\Application data\CCP\EVE\settings"
And I was able to log again.
See you ingame guys. |
