Yesterday i was probing for a radar site and got a result, then probed some more till it was time to use a sift probe. Again i got a cosmic signature signal and warped to it. At the destination i found nothing, i used a sift again and again got a hit, warped to it but again no site. what am i doing wrong, should i use a different kinda probe, should i not warp in cloaked. i am lost at this moment! anybody that has an answer

Sift is the last one. It should get you to within 2,500km. What deviations were you getting? Sometimes you need to fly the last couple hundred km. You also want to make sure you've trained Astrometric Pinpointing to at least 3 or 4.

tx for replying, I got a signal of 0.0165. and it was around 1500km away, this was the last scan. i didnt fly towards it since there is no option for approch, after u warp the only 2 option u get are warp to 0 or warp(10-100). If i select warp to 0 again my ship does start moving do. Will this be in the right direction of the site?

Edited by: Madscience on 09/11/2007 19:06:55 when the accuaracy is under 500km, you can warp into he site if not keep scanning.
P.S. When you have a high deviation and are on the same grid as the site, you cant warp to it. Warp out and warp back to new signature location you just find.

1500 km is still a lot. Use another sift probe, and if you get a closer result, warp to it and use another sift probe, until you finally get there. (As others said, if you're under 500 km, or something, warp out and back in and you should spawn the site.
The other day I used a sift probe and got a result within 583 km. Warped to it and a couple sift probes later and I found a site within 571 km. Warped to it and a couple of sift probes later got a 510 km result. Warped to it and another sift probe finally gave me a 180 km result. Whew.

I was once scanning for a site and a complex kept coming up. First at 6au and then then next came up .7 au. but the same signal strength and slightly different location. I eventually had several hits clusted around a central location.
back on topic, The sift is the last one. keep scanning with them and you will get there....eventually. |
