Vista(32) can in fact handle 4gb ram, im fairly sure i remember this correctly, im just double checking due to my rather tired state. --------------------------------------------

Yes, but that includes memory on other things e.g. graphics cards. So system RAM will be less than 4GB.

Questionable whether the 4th would be worth it, doubt you'll get much over 3-3.5; but if you have money to burn then why not?
Or you could just use 64bit and slap almost as much RAM in as you like?

Vista is a wonderful beast in that if you have more RAM installed, it will find something to put in it.
Although Vista will run on 1Gb, everyone will tell you that 2Gb is the minimum you should settle for, but with RAM prices as they are 4x1Gb sticks are cheap enough to pick up.
As someone else has already stated, you will immediately lose a pile of that memory if you have a separate gfx card installed as the gfx card will need memory for texture mapping. =============================================

You'll end up with 3gig of system ram and massive video ram. *Total available graphics memory 1919 MB*
