Sooo....for reasons beyond comprehension I need to grind corp standings. Best off in an AF/Destroyer of even faction (hookbill)? |

Neither.
Destroyer is too squishy, easily killed by cruiser spawns and swarms of frigates.
AF would work, but it's expensive and [may] not deal enough damage after all that required tank.
Buy a cruiser. It's cheap, easily tanked, and does plenty of damage to sweep through L2s. |

Assault Ships are fine for all mission levels. You will have some difficulty in L4 missions of course.
Destroyers are far too squishy for L2/L3 missions, Assault Ships can speed tank in addition to having fine local tanks.
Cruisers can be better, but they don't have the tank for L3 missions unless you go for faction (e.g.: even the Omen Navy Issue requires a lot of player skill to fly in L3/L4 missions). |

Depends on the AF.
If you got an iskur use it and forget the rest.
Any other AF your probly better off with a cruiser.

Cheers. Money is not an issue, however I wasn't aware Cruisers were able to do level two missions - it's been a while.
I think I have a could of Caracals lying around somewhere..... |

No doubt. I did em with a tengu, enough to tank 10lvl2's at once and with 300+ DPS WITH precisions(dont forget to ungroup missilez). but your best bet without skillz in a dramiel, dual prop and 125mm autos with barrage ammo(or titanium sabot in u got no skillz :P). With dram use mwd to close in than switch to ab and orbit one ship while destroying the rest. also 3 handy drones will do fine in afk missioning. YEAH !! I knew training for a Harpy will one day pay off :)) |

yeah, for lvl2s ur good with a caracal with all ballistics in low, buffer tank in med, and assault(NOT HEAVY ASSAULT) missiles in highs. oh, and bring a sensor booster, frigs r a pain to lock onto

Navy cruisers ... or T3s
Best bang for the buck for your purpose. |

Ishkur can do nearly anything in PVE, I highly reccomend it.
The other AFs are good too, mostly they work better than faction frigs.
Cruisers work fine, the arby, vexor, and caracal being the best IMO but, they don't really do more DPS than the ishkur and I consider them less fun/
Or you could get a more powerful boat like a Gila or ishtar and just use it all the way up to l4s, and when you are done with your standing grind use them in PVP. |

For the fun factor I have found AF's to be better than destroyers for lvl 2's. I have used Retribution, Vengence and a Hawk and they all worked really well. Dramiel is also fun. Hookbill also works but I proffered the AF's. But tbh, if I grind standings again it will be in my Tengu, there is only so much fun to be had in a LvL2 |

missile boats are annoying since they take long between reloads, although you may try splitting them in 2 groups.
try zealot. it has range bonus, nice dps for a cruiser, fast volleys and infinite ammo. In other words, everything you need in lvl2-3 missions. |

Destroyers are quite capable of running L2's....they're actually relatively good at it. The range bonus makes them very well suited for kiting. |

It's been a while, but I remember running a lot of lvl2's in a Thrasher, until I lost one. Used a Rupture for lvl2/3's and even some lvl4's (yes) after that. |

I've done L3s with a Jaguar and Retribution, there's hardly any that probes to be a problem. Especially after the AF buff. Destroyers are far harder to missions with, they're bigger, slower and don't have T2 resists.. |
