I'm pretty torn between the two. AB will allow for speedtank, MWD allows for better range closing. Or should I try to cram a 100mn AB on there to get the best of both worlds? |

MWD/scram/web and/or cap booster (depending on the subs if you have 3 or 4 mids.) |

you should only have 3 mids, they should be mwd, scram, web. optionally swap web for cap booster but i wouldnt recommend it. AB is not an option on a proteus. ever. |

I feel like the cap booster is well worth trading a low for a mid. Care to give reasons why the extra low would be more beneficial? |

you just dont need a cap booster on a proteus. my proteus is cap stable running everything, including the mwd and void, so cap in never an issue until you get neuted. it's not a ship you should ever be flying into hazardous environments without guardian support so you should have cap logi available anyway in case you do get neuted.
fitting 4 mids means youre using the gravi cap prop sub which actually makes you a lot less cap stable running the mwd, not to mention a lot slower and have a lot less dps.
i fly a proteus a lot, i have never been capped out in it to my recollection, apart from in c6 sleeper sites while taking heavy neut agro from the sleepers.
ofcourse, i am assuming youre buffer fitting a fleet/gang prot. if youre active tanking or solo fitting it, yeah you need a cap booster. even if you do want the cap booster, drop the web for it, not a low. |

Yeah, I'm solo/small gang fitting it. (No Logi support) I'm not worried about being capstable running the MWD, I'm more worried about being cap stable running the repper. |

If you're fitting a repper, then you'll definitely want a cap booster.
Better question is; why are you fitting a single repper for solo? |

Single repper with a plate. From my experience a large buffer combined with reps can actually be much more effective than one or the other in a situation where your outnumbered. |

Fair enough, I suppose. I guess I'm just not used to the idea of active Protii.
As the poster above suggested, I'd drop the web for a cap booster rather than a lowslot for a cap booster. |

I dunno. A web seems pretty essential for a blaster boat, but a second damage mod would be pretty swell. I'm no EVE Math Warrior but I would think the extra damage applied from being able to hit the target better with a web might even compete with the damage provided from a second damage mod, but of course I could be completely wrong. |

Better than 100k+ EHP and 1,000+ DPS? I can't see how The box said "Requires Windows-á2000 or better", so I installed Linux. |

Obviously ANY active tanked ship needs a booster. that said, youre probably better off with a myrmidon if youre active tanking a gallente boat... |
