I have heard rumours about ppl loosing both the item they sold and the isk they got for it after trading their item for "bad" isk (laundered/bought/ect), is there any truth in this`? I really want to sell my item, but the potential buyer is in a newb corp and wont vouch for himself via either mainchar in respected corp or via a 3rd person in a respected corp.
I tried opening a petition but so far I have had no answer from the CCP staff, I just want to make sure I dont sell a multi billion isk thingy into some laundering scheme which ultimately would result in not only the game going downhill, but myself getting financially penalzied ingame for a fault that there is no way of checking up on...
Thx in advance.

tough one.
Certainly the isk will be removed from your wallet, I've known several people this has happened to.
However, I don't know about getting the item back. In all the cases where I know for sure what has gone on, it was a direct isk purchase rather than selling an item for 'dirty' isk.
Bottom line, I wouldn't risk it unless:
a) CCP tell you it'll be fine (i.e. they'll give you the item back) b) This guy provides a less shady character to purchase the item.

Edited by: Matalino on 12/11/2007 17:49:57 As long as you are trading for anything close to market value, then you should be fine.
Just apply the plausiblity test.
Could a regular player be expected to make that trade?
If you are selling a faction battleship for a 20-50% markup, then you should be fine.
If you are selling 1 unit of ammo for 1 billion ISK, then expect to get your wallet WTFBBQ'ed by the GM's if the buyer turns out to be an ISK seller.

Well, you have the chat logs to show. CCP can look up both your and his IP. It's a risk, but one I have taken before. I traded some very expensive items with someone who later came out to be an ISK buyer. We talked several times and he did reveal to me that his wallet was put into a few billion negative on our 3rd chat. My assets or my wallet haven't been touched. When I initiated the trade I wasn't aware that he buys ISK, only later did he tell me that he can no longer accept trades in his current character because its wallet is severely in negative. Mind you, this was character that was a main, or one of his mains, so even trading with someone's main you run the risk of trading with an ISK buyer.
