Don't you hate it when you're fighting NPC rats...
and while you kill the bigger ones, the smaller ones manage to speed at right up to you, so close your turrets track too slow to hit them?
Equip a smartbomb. If you're in a cruiser... just use a small one, its enough, hardly uses any CPU or grid.
Put it on autorepeat, and when the rats get too close, just activate it. It won't do much, but usually the rats are faster than you... and lock range guns can't track for crap...

... and then your drones get all agry at ya because just one of them happened to get into range of the smart bomb.

Very useful against stations and sentry guns, I must say. And no mercy for pods and loot containers! ____________________________________________________

A tip for anyone new people out there, if you have afterburners or mwds in your first and second medium slots put your smartbombs in your high slots that are not the first and second ones. If you don't use AltF1 while traveling though you don't have to worry about it.

Nothing new about this. Most people dont use it, as its far less effective than using med/small blasters for frigates. It also tends to destroy loot cans, which defeats the purpose of NPC hunting.
Effective way to kill those pesky frigs: blasters or webbers. double-web them and even a 1400mm can hit them. ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

Webbers are effective, but a whole different slot tactic.
Gallente ships don't have the midslots to spare, but often have 1 or 2 high slots and not enough power or CPU to put another of their 'big guns' in. Smart bombs don't need a roll 'to hit'. Despite their name, they're a fairly no brainer to kill with. Takes brains, (or at least paying attention) to -selectively- kill with them and not bring concord down on you for 'bombing a fellow traveller, neutral drone, can or other property.

The real use for smart bombs is killing pods, havent checked lately but earlier there would be no big hit for killing a pod if you used a smart bomb.

The only truly unique way Ive seen a smartbomb used was on a Raven that was trying to kill frigates that were warping to a gate. Setting off 4-5 large smartbombs will kill any frig instantly, without needing a target lock
(and yes, they tried to use it against me, hehehe) ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

Just shoot the small ones at a far distance first, they cause more problems anyways.

I'm not the biggest PvP player, but could you effectively fit an Apocalypse with 8 large smartbombs(2 of each) and 2 MWD's, keep distance at 50m and PvP that way... I'm sure it would be fun when cloaking arrives.
The Idea is that you should kill ALL missiles if you activate the smartboms with even intervals and at that close range you should be hard to hit with large turrets. Also, no targeting required and you should be pealing 200-450 points of damage away from the opponent every 1.5-2 secs.
Don't know if it's sustainable, haven't done the math.
any comments? (flame away :)

Medium smartbombs are bugged and cant be sold on market. Seems like the devs forgot about meds, and only have micro, small, large smartbombs available on market. ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.
