I put a small POS in a low-sec system a week ago or so. Its mining a rarety 16 (nothing special). Anyhow, I get a mail from a Noob in a NPC corp threating my POS and I have to pay his ransom for my POS protection. To top it off he sends a link of his major alliance "FLEET" and the link goes to a pic of a capital ship fleet taken on the test server. It gets better! He has also threatened a few ally POS's in the same system with the same mail threat. anyone else find this fishy?

hehe,
can't blame a guy for trying. I'm sure a newer corp would have certainly paid up. :) _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

Hehehe, yeah, sounds like it's just a threat he can't back up...I wouldn't worry too much.
I set up a POS 1.5 weeks ago, and already had 2 people trying to ransom me

I had an actual alliance drop 6 dreads 4 carriers and a mothership drop on my lowsec POS. Had my alliance CEO in a convo with them, and we counter-ransomed their fleet (their total support was 2 BS, and I had already popped fighters with the POS guns :o). They left in a few minutes.. before we could get there. :(

small post costs what? 150 mill isk to setup?
Taking all the fuel ect to jump the dreads, then add in the stront + ammo. Then to add onto that the time wasted which includes forming up ect and it just isnt worth it.

Clearly you should have waited with the counter-ransom then.

Edited by: Admiral Nova on 13/11/2007 16:10:59 Yeah, though this was less effort, stoped any reprisal, saved people alot of jumps and it never had to even go into reinforced. Sometimes threats guarantee you the result you want whereas a fight will leave you with a better or worse result depending.

I did receive another mail from this NPC noob giving me a 3 day ultimatum to pay his ransom. He also added that I can also order caps ships through him with a 150 mil discount per cap ship ordered. The POS only has a silo, and a harvestor. Its already payed for itself so ... come get it then

Dont forget to load it with a few days stront incase he actually decides to go waste his time.
Also if this actually happens eve-mail me the corp names, the capitals and other ships used and the time the pos comes out of reinforced.
