I've been ratting in 0.0 for over a week now although not as good as i thought it would be it is still better than doing countless lvl 3's (in lvl 4's, sure as amarr i can tank angels all day, but never in any reasonable time frame will my lasers kill those heathens...), suddenly however i hardly ever get any battleship spawns anymore, only frigs, cruisers, and battlecruisers... even pure frig spawns.. my ceo noticed too, did ccp change anything in the background?
surely nerfing income is not the way to do it if theres a deflation in the economy? or am i just terribly unlucky? --sig--

I dunno, I was ratting in Geminate yesterday - you know, the place where the Guristas have the shipyards that produce all the damb Dire Cruisers - and although it took me an hour or so to work them up, I was chaining BS spawns in every belt.

i can't chain either, as it seems the spawns are time based and they despawn before i even get back to the belt....:/ --sig--

Not having any trouble in catch. Spawns are as good as always. There are despawns every now and then, but not often enough to cause any serious concern

problem is the huge amount of ppl. ratting in same systems, or drones screwing up and killing a frigatte, ergo breaking a chain (/me points at my own drone bay)
another problem is ppl. not even knowing how chaining works, and when they see a full spawn of frigattes and cruisers, instead of killing it all to get a better respawn, they warp to next belt.
but i certainly find less named rats than when i started playing a few month ago.

Well theres your problem. Bar about 6 very busy systems, GW is a lousy place for ratting as the sec status of the majority of systems is not low enough.
Where are you by the way? Ill pop down with the boys for a visit....

0.0 ratting is barely worth it if you dont spend some hours tying to get a good bs chain going on. the first hour can be a pain in the ass.. especially in 0.0 to -0.6 systems

if you have say a triple BS spawn, and you kill 2, the 2 new that might spawn (assuming it doesn't despawn) has a chance of being faction/officer i believe. --sig--

No.... any Rats you chain will respawn exactly the same. E.g You Kill a Serpentis Admiral a Serpentis Admiral will Respawn. You need to kill off the entire spawn to trigger a possible Faction spawn
There are 2 Ways to Rat 1. Chaining: Only Kill Highest Bounty Rats Leaving Frigates so BS's Respawn 2. Faction: Kill Everything in Every spawn so that a new spawn si triggered with the chance of it being an officer/ faction spawn
Oh and no, Spawns didn't change your just in a sucky region tbqh

#11,14 I have had the same problem for few days. Spawn disappear... just vanish in a blink of an eye. Usually it happens after BS kill. Wonder what does it? Has done it "constantly". Few times a day. Not anything serious. I'm not mad, but I think it's not normal.

It happened earlier too, not something new. I saw disappearing spawns even 1.5-2 years ago. It didn't happen too often, but it happened from time to time. I haven't ratted in 0.0 for a very long time, so I don't know if the frequency of said events has increased, but by no means it's something new.

Edited by: Topaz Skydiver on 13/11/2007 16:50:11 Wonder, if there are officers in Great Wildlands anyway, except in the systems with low true sec rating, e.g. where you also find mercoxit. Great Wildlands is mostly a crappy region for ratting, compared to Curse at least. --------------------------------------------- *snip* |

NPCs belt hop too. Check another belt in the system and you'll find your spawn.

I have seen warping spawns, but these are in space, and second time they just aren't.
Or then it's just my imagination.

When npc's warp they disappear and reappear at a random gate and or belt. Spawns never ever despawn, they just move somewhere else in the same system. --

not true - if you have a hauler spawn and you kill the protection they _can_ despawn. Same with faction spawn - I've lost one to this before -------------------------------- So.... |

Spawns can despawn its sadly true, happens when you kill the frigates or cruisers before the battleships; or major part of the spawn such as the faction rat, officer or hauler.
My life in Venal showed me that its an awesome place to not chain. I was operating 4 jumps from the Guristas home system making it awesome for faction spawns I was annoyed if I didn't get one a day. Also the corp had like 2 officers per week which is always nice.
My best guess for whether its good for you to chain or not is to see how far you are from a Pirate home system. If you are miles away like I was when in Fountain then chain or you will make terrible isk. If you are somewhere like Venal get as close to that pirate home system as possible and kill whole spawns to get faction shineys. On a good week a billion isk isnt hard to come by this way with very little effort, I just ratted until I got a dread spawn every day.
Thats my 2 cents for ya anyways.

Okay so is this fact or myth:
Chaining spawns will increase the speed of which the battleships respawn in a single belt? Rumor is that you can eventually be sitting in a belt with non-stop bs killing action because the bs keeps respawning right after you kill it. _________________ Burn. |

Sometihng tells me if this happening then you might need to change your ship/setup. You should be killing them quickly, not long drawn fights.

takes 1-2 mins depending on how tough the BS is... not the best using lasers vs angels...but I'm amarr and i want to fly amarr!
about chaining... i tried again today... killed the BS went to next belt killed the good stuff there, went back to previous and found that the remains of the spawn had dissapeared...same with the one i warped from when i warped back there.... Am i missing something obvious?
and no it don't always go to a different belt or gate...
a response from a GM was: ''We checked our logs but regret to inform you that we are unable to verify your issue in our logs as being abnormal in anyway. Rats in belts will occasionally move around in the same system and this is working as intended.'' i've asked another question with if the frequency it happens now at is normal and even dissapearing from the system...:/

To farm b.s. spawns you kill off any npc's in the blets that don't contain b.s.
As b.s. spawns you kill the b..s and leave the frigtes, and in about 20 to 30 minutes the b.s. will respan then youreutrn to the belt and kill them again.
On a good evening lets say two hours of ratting I can make about 25M isk though most of the time it's a little bit less.
