How? Seriously, I am not a complete dimwit, nor am I in need of a babysitter. The most annoying thing is perhaps that it brings the opened tab to focus when I want to finish reading the post, then view the contents of the link.
This might very well be the least user friendly feature of any forum in the history of the internet. Like a wart on my nose, I just want it to go away! |

Yes please.
Let me turn jquery back on and let me get rid of this silly custom js nonsense I have to do to fix it. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

No, this would be too easy. EVE is about pain and suffering and forums shouldn't be enjoyable either. |

If anyone at least could explain the rationale why there is no GÇÿGÇÖDisable warning popupGÇÖGÇÖ check-box to be found anywhere, it would be great. As if links opening in new tabs/windows by default isnGÇÖt already painfully annoying, this brings it to a completely new level. An outrage, you might say.
(If there is a GÇÿGÇÖDisable annoying stuffGÇÖGÇÖ button somewhere that I have missed, please point me in its general direction so I can proceed in mash that sob like it wants it)

I can. It's called cover your ass. That's one of the results of bad management that puts it's focus on the company instead of the customer.
The game has a tutorial that gives you a mining laser and a railgun and tells you to go shoot rocks and red crosses. It teaches you nothing else. It's been that way for 8 years, so are you really surprised that there are people who aren't aware that this is a pvp game? --Jafit McJafitson |

How does this solution cover anyone's asses more than a disable button+ disclaimer?

Did I at any point ask for it to be completely removed? |

Granted, doing so breaks a vast array of forum functions, so it might not be the best of options (but it sure makes them a whole lot faster).

All this typing - and reading - about the warning window takes more time that's needed to click YES for a few hundred times ...
But besides that bullcrap, whenever i use the middle mouse button to open a link, it opens it in a new window and keeps the focus in the old one ...
... so you might want to consider checking your configuration ?
I can share the "pain" of having the focus switched, but i can't understand the issue, because there's an easy workaround ?
Edit: Also ... only cowards hide behind alts. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

... so you might want to consider checking your configuration ? The problem is that it's completely browser-dependent. Some browsers do that, others do not. The fundamental issue is that the script breaks standard browser behaviour, which is a horribly bad idea to begin with. The old version where you got a warning page was a far better solution that the current scripted one since it didn't affect that behaviour and was reasonably easy to script away.
What we have now is just plain old unsound design. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Taint wrote:And when your acount gets hacked youl be back on the forums crying like a 6 year old girl. You're assuming that the link warning is actually helping against anything and that people aren't just clicking through it.
That's a pretty huge assumption.
At any rate, I haven't been hacked so far, and I've completely disabled the link warning on my end.

Given the fact that 90% of the time when I click outgoing links, I am browsing via my laptop, which runs Arch Linux, I don't think I am under much risk from common keyloggers and the like.
Also, I browsed the old forums without this popup for years and as unbelievable as it might seem, I was never hacked. |
