Edited by: NoobALTS on 13/11/2007 14:41:48 The Eve Dev blog lists the bestower as the most popular Amarr ship. I am most impressed, but then again, I should not be surprised sine a Bestower does not use lasers.
What would your thought be about this?

My thought would be that everyone flies/owns at least one industrial ship, and the Bestower offers some of the best low-skill requirement cubage avaliable. Thats the basis on which I use it anyway. |

I see. Better not tell CCP that, otherwise they may nerf the most popular Amarr ship!

I would have to ask the context of the situation and what we mean by "popular."
How many haulers exist in game? How many are flown at a given time?
What Amarr ship is *flown* most often? I own about 30 Bestowers but I rarely fly them for example. Do you count those as being "popular" or do you count the fact that I fly mostly the Sacrilege and Purifier and not count the Bestowers at all? ---

They are considered popular by the same rating system the Devs used in the latest dev blog. Amarr are teh only race where the hauler is the most popular ship.

Lol, the Bestower is the only Amarr ship that is up to par with the ships from the other races!
NEWSFLASH: CCP remove Amarr and lasers from the game.
All pilots with any AMARR skillpoints will be deleted on 1st of December(They might as well since CCP nerfed them into extinction |

Looking to the latest economic blog that you are referring to I see no reason to worry about this.
For those of you who do not know what we are talking about I politely refer you to Econ Blog 3 on Page 6 of the PDF document. It lists the top 10 ships pilots were in at downtime on October 19th of 2007. The paragraph directly to the left of the table in question easily shows that there is no point to the thread. Albeit we may see it as "ironic" that the number 1 Amarrian active ship at downtime was an industrial ship, I would also like to point out that the number 1 gallente ship is also a hauler, and there are more of them than Bestowers.
It also warns you, the reader, that not much can be taken from a single snapshot and that the statistic will be watched (longitudinal study). ---

Bestowers are quite popular among the courier farmers. Just take a look at Aschee. There's usually a fleet of macro haulers there. Great for if you wanna hit -10 quick, but the loot sucks.

To get a Bestower requires Amarr Frigate III, Spaceship Command III, and Amarr Industrial I (So you can get one in about 1-2 days easily. If you start Amarr, a few hours). It can hold 5k m3 base and has 4 low slots which means it can easily hold up to 8k m3 with cargo expanders and a warp stabilizer or 10k m3 if you ignore the warp stabilizer. It's also cheap as dirt.
The only other industrials that could hold as much as the Bestower with comparable equipment and have as many (if not more low slots) are the
Mammoth which requires Minmatar Frigate III, Spaceship Command III, and Minmatar Industrial IV.
and the
Iteron Mark V which requires Gallente Frigate III, Spaceship Command III, and Gallente Industrial V.
Even if you are a different race, getting Amarr Frigate up to III and Amarr Industrial up to I probably takes less time then skilling your Industrial skill up to III, IV, or V, so the Bestower is really attractive in the "Time to get, cost, and utility" sense.
Also, I would say that a lot of Amarr pilots that start out flying Amarr ships probably get to the point where they can fly Industrials (And/or need them to haul loot around) and begin to realize just how much Amarr ships suck. It was about the time that I got my Bestower that I spec'd out of Amarr ships.

Even so, look at the statistics of amarr combat ships. All other races combat ships are flown more often.

Correct. So the great Amarr empire now consists of people using bestowers, which severly outnumber front line Amarr combat ships. Trade vs War, and the death of the Emperor has left this disgusting legacy.
