Goons take this game more seriously than any alliance has ever done. That's not the sad fact though. The sad fact is that you believe it's stupid to take a game seriously. Games can be fun and taken seriously. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Also note that if there aren't at least 5 threads about Goons on the first page of CAOD Goons will post threads about themselves until their quota is met. You have become Bob. Congrats.

In Eve Online, this kind of time investment have more importance because when you loose something. You loose it. Period. So people whining about their loss, the nerfbat, and beeing agressive on forums isnt something you could smile of. Basically, this game is also important in real life because time is real. Effort is real. So you can be sarcastic, you can laugh about people taking this game too seriously, but you just dont understand the way games works... and I mean "all" games. Some people play to win, maybe not you, but that's you, not everyone. There, you are the arrogant person, you insult me here because I'm not a goon, or because I take this game seriously because I'm investing a lot of time in it. The recent storm of horrible posts in CAOD is the perfect example of a huge joke, that went over the heads of the most "pubbies" here. Before the Great Eve War, CAOD was dominated by a bunch of absolutely arrogant, power-tripping Band of Brothers posters who thought that wars are won with "kill/death ratios". They proceeded to use colorful phrases, like "industrial backbone" and "kill efficiency" to describe how they are utterly crushing their opposition, when in fact what was going on in the game was quite different compared to what was being posted here. The entire forum was their playground and virtually no one complained about that at the time. In fact, such ridiculous circle jerking was encouraged by the general "pubbie" population of CAOD. The very fact that the CAOD crowd is reacting very differently to the exact same trolling from goons now, abeit under a slightly different flavor, is the cause of much comedy among us. It is rare to see a community so hypocritical and so incredibly stuck up that they cant even take their own satire well. We had a fantastic laugh at your expense, and we will continue to do so as long as you are going to provide us with this opportunity. This is the essence of what goons do in Eve - its so much fun to play this game because its absolutely packed with stupid people, who cause a lot of drama when the game doesn't go their way.
