There are pirates out there. That's a fact. However, seeing things like Originally by: some random pirate Thanks for raising my bounty. Today it reached *** bil ISK, so i clone jumped and had a friend podkill me. Thanks!
makes me wonder if that's the way bounty was intended to work.
However, today I read that text:
Originally by: Quarterly Economic Newsletter There are 4,200 pilots with a standing of -3 or worse, and only 32 pilots that have reached the perfect criminal score of -10.
Well, maybe we could see a little change to the bounty system: Instead of having the bounty paid out to the one that kills the pirate, make the pirate pay the bounty price to release his clone. So if he has his clone up to date but not enough money to equal his bounty, he'd have a little problem: If he's podkilled, he won't get the clone he paid for, but one with the highest capacity below his max skill points. Like that he'll loose skill points for sure.
So, what happens if you manage to **** off a very rich player and he places like ten billion on your head? Well, that's the risk that a pirate will have to deal with. Up to now the bounty benefits them, with that change the bounty will be the thing it was intended to be - a thing pirates should be afraid of!!
Well, to help with the pirates' honor, you should add two infos: first, how long is the player running around with bounty and how long does he have the bounty ammount he has? There could be a special tab in the player info that's only visible if the player has a standing below -1 and if he's "Wanted". If he's got a standing higher than -1, the tab and the "Wanted" won't show anymore, but the bounty won't be forgotten.
So, what do you think? -- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

You need to quit eve if you think this is a good idea.

One thread on this is enough: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=635737
You also need to quit EVE if you think the current bounty system is working well

I never said it was working well, but costing someone 2 months of training (repeatedly) is just ******* stupid.
Do you have *ANY* comprehension of the amount of time it takes to get to positive sec status from even -5? Idiot.

Also, go check the C&P forums - this is something that has repeatedly come up there. There have actually been some good ideas there.
Giving someone "Light Skill Eraser II" modules on their ship (effectively) is just a bit overpowered, don't you think? Jeeze.

Edited by: Katana Seiko on 14/11/2007 03:06:04 Well, it's an IDEA. The current bounty system is bulls***t and you can't deny it.
And if you need to get from -5 up... Well, you did something wrong to get down to that sec status before, don't you think? -- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

I also agree that this makes much more sense in the C&P forums.
You certainly don't need to create *multiple* posts in the 'Patch forum'

I wouldn't bother trying to deny it, but ransoming someone's clone is ******* stupid - and you know it.
Stop making multiple trolling topics in the game dev forums. This idea is *SO BEYOND STUPID AND BROKEN* that I can't even imagine that you put more than 2 seconds of thought into it.
That or you have no process in your brain that resembles thought.

Well, Liang... I do - and at least I use it to throw in some ideas here.
Well, the clones are a problem of an other kind... Noone should loose months (more than one) worth of training at any given time, mostly something like a week. At least as long as you have a clone that's allmost up to date... -- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

You're removing their ability to get another clone. Not having a clone means they don't undock.
I'm (personally) not down with losing 2-3 million SP because some rich jackass bought 2 Billion ISK in GTC's so that he could once or repeatedly place a bounty on my head.
The simple fact is that skill points are sacrosanct. If you **** up and don't update your clone, that's your problem. Giving someone else control over my clone is the day that virtually every pirate quits Eve.

Well Lucre from STK Scientific or whatever alt you like to use to talk about this stupid idea, how is it with your corpm8 Davlin Lotze? He was quite upset last week when he heard about the hacdictors function to scramble moms in lowsec.
Will he sell that vyvwern now that he soon risk losing it to a group of angry anti-pirates or anyone that want a mom kill to brag about?
That you Lucre think that pirates should lose sp when podded is interesting because you have pirates in your own corporation. Is that why you posted this second thread about the same thing with that alt?
And Only 5k bounty... has Davlin already podded himself to collect it or is he just taking a break from pirating? Don't get me wrong, I don't think its anything wrong with pirating it makes for a more interesting game but I think a pirate in a mom deserves a little more than only 5k bounty right?
While I wait to see what you post next I think I go and up it a bit, to let say 20k! Its not much, but if everyone give a little isk then it should be big enough soon. Then he can pod himself and begin a new career in EVE when revelation 3 is here.
//Cornette
PS. While I may act silly with this post of mine this whole thread is stupid and doesn't deserve better.

Hell, not just pirates... there's a *lot* of people who don't consider themselves pirates with < -1.0 sec status.
