I was offered some so i'm wandering. Are they the same as homeless ? And what about prisoners... OK ?

Oddly enough, you can only use homeless. Id expect slaves to work better, but they wont accept them.
Marines are pretty useless atm. They are from failed agent missions that involve moving a task force.

There are a lot of trade commodities that are actual "people".
Homeless, Slaves, Slavers, VIPs, Tourists, Marines, and probably a few others too.
So far only Homeless have a use as test subjects.

Some research agents will ask for homeless people for test subjects. I know Amarr agents use them, not sure about Caldari ones.

I would think that the big guns that the Marines have would say "NO" to research work.

how many homeless people shell out the money to play this game much less have a computer and internet connection atleast online anyone can make fun of the homeless all they want.
