Edited by: Tevlent on 15/11/2007 22:24:18 So what happened in LJ-YSW? Usually I see posts about mad props right after a battle involving the explosion of 6-8 caps.
Was there a lot of honor or respect. Or maybe a little of both?

This is my personal view of the battle that took place tonight, please correct me if there is any error in my report.
Our capital "fleet" of 18 carriers jumped in system filled with around 240 hostiles (CoW, -V-, Talionis Alliance, The Church and others).
As we were sitting on our reinforced POS the enemy capital fleet jumped in, at a 350km range. We took the opportunity to bubble them (thx titan ;o) and jumped our caps on them.
In the meantime, our support engaged their battleships on the gates while another enemy bs gang joined the capital battle who quickly turned into a capital slaughter.
I believe we were around 70 tcf in gang, in wich around 18 capitals wich means our support barely hold the enemy fleet long time enought for our friends Red Alliance and GoonSwarm to jump into the battle and finish them off. Many thanks to them for being at the right time at the right place !
Overall, it was a really good fight, I personally enjoyed it as it was my first engagement in a capital ship. Also, mutual respect was shown after the battle and no smack at all took place.
We killed 4 dreads and 2 carriers, lost 0 capitals. Various supports and battleships were killed on both side with less losses on the RSF side. Also, our little small pos was saved but in the end I don't think it was our primary goal to save it ;o

Evening all. Just wanted to clear a few things up regarding the situation in LJ-
We had prepared a gang to assult the star base set to come out of re-enforce. We had pre-cyno'ed in our capitals to a station in LJ- and awaited for the all clear to undock and warp to the starbase.
the command was given and our capital fleet undocked - I wont disclose numbers but lets say the much larger proportion of our cap fleet hit a black screen on undock.
None the less those undocked, made the warp to the spot 300+km from the pos in order to load the grid. We awaited our other capital pilots in teh hope that when they re-logged tehy would be able to join us.
This wasn't to be - Our caps were bubbled and as mentioned the hostile fleet warped in on top of us. in the mean time i believe our support gang was struggling with grid loading whilst attempting to assist.
Upon the arrival of the hostile caps on our cap position we began assigning targets, few of which we were capable of locking, and even those we could took far longer than they should have.
With all the combat going on our black screened caps struggled to get back in play and by the time they had we were not in a position to re-enforce and engage due to our support fleet being compromised and the hostiles already having the upper hand with us heavily pinned down.
According to Tau Ceti, they had no problem with lag, though lag was practicaly all i kept hearing about. - This isnt an informal smack at goons, tau ceti n co, nor at ccp. Just giving the engagement from our perspective
As for the dread with the cloak, that was myself. As it stands im a few days from citadel torps, but 2 capital artys under siege mode do a **** load more damage than me bringing a bs. The cloak simply hadnt been removed from its original transportation, and frankly we didnt expect to encounter the issues we did.
Thank you all for fighting, and i appologise it was nothing more than a turkey shoot for you.

The cloaks bad enough but a target painter and web.... come on man TARGET PAINTER and you choose to fit a cloak which doesnt help you at all but actually hinders you which no other fitting would have done. Why was there even a cloak on your dread in the first place?? expanded nafg for logistics??? the true victim here is fittings- friends dont let friends fit capitals drunk.

A little correction. We were not quite 240... But we outnumbered Coalition forces. Local tops were around 360.
Very good FCing and reaction from the coalition side. Also props to the dictor.
Unfortunatly only 8 of our caps warped to the POS. The rest crashed or blacked out while undocking. Seems like lag was not on our side. I was able to acticate the guns on my dread after 5 minutes. But that was the only thing that worked ;)!
See you in space and hopefully next time we can actually fight and not see one or the other side being slaughtered.
(did anyone say props?)
P.S.: No "low" smack in local... just the usual funny stuff before and after.

Hey i tried, and i was honest. Its true taht goonies really cant reply except through smack. as i stated it was on there for dread transportation through systems without stations or friendly pos's. As for "if u dont have teh skilsl to fly it dont fly it" if im going to have the skills in a few days, why not? n when 2 capital artys are better than 2 bs? why take a single bs? Painters were there for citadels taht i never got hold of. When teh op started i had only just logged on and didnt have much time to concider changing my fit. You fit ships to your own preference. As it happens i prefere armor tankers that can kill bs. you favour shield tanks and teh inability to kill anything but pos's n caps. Fair play, your choice, but i shall do as i please regardless of what you have to say.

I jumped in in my eris, waited 5 minutes for grid to load, turn on my mwd, hit "orbit at 10km" on a battleship in your sniper cluster, stared at the screen for 10 minutes as nothing happened and then woke up in a fresh clone. All for Captain Gordon.

And you still probably locked a target quicker than the Dread with a cloak

Originally by: threeD As for the dread with the cloak, that was myself.

Originally by: threeD Hey i tried, and i was honest. Fair play, your choice, but i shall do as i please regardless of what you have to say.

guess we need to spend more time learning how to cope with lag, as our opponents seemed to cope with it better and won because of it. was looking forward to a good night, and a large scale scrap. we were still managing to have a bit of a laugh in corp chat while it all went pear shaped... until the torrent of smack from a minority of the hostiles kinda tainted the evening and made it the whole evening less fun though. :(
i still don't get the 'make sure other people don't enjoy themselves' attitude, but i assume that's TCF's allies, as TCF have been a fine bunch of people over the last few weeks :) _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

Many lessons learned I guess :
- When local is above 300, don't sit in stations because you may have troubles to undock, and never-ever try to reconnect to get rid of the lag else you may aswell never log in back.
- When local is above 300, don't sit the BS in your own bubble at a gate, because if someone tries to enter by brute force (or jump portal, the russians behind you in the mirror thing ...), then you'll lag or desync to death.
- And yes capitals can scramble too, ever tried to pilot a 10km/s interceptor with a 30 seconds module lag ? ;)

Hello,
I was in the system for the fight and I can say that we had an heavy lag too.
Indeed, After jumping, I have waited 2-5 minutes to load my overview then I tried to lock at your support and mwd out of your bubble and I had a really big delay (7mn) and while I was mwd out, a lot of my mates were still with their jumping screens.
Near the POS, the lag was acceptable with only 1-2mn delay for me.
The real difference is that RSF use to play with heavy lag in fleets so, our FC and our pilots know how to act with it.
Anyway, that was a good fight for me as you were polite in local and my ship is still alive ^^.
Regards. Mortal Rabbit.

Hello,
I was in the system for the fight and I can say that we had an heavy lag too.
You're right. Same for me. The lag was horrible on the G-O Gate.

Nothing more than 30 minutes to jump in LJ-, to load grid at gate, and to warp out after a *randomy lucky alignment full speed* from my ship itself to get out the bubble ^^ Then.. killed, alone in space, when loading grid at the POS attacked, without a single action I could do :P
btw wellplayed all :) That looked like a good battle ^^

Well COW and V bring a nice BS and cap fleet to kill our POS and we had better to let them do it ? I see a good opportunity to have some kills with a small blob of hostiles( yes because 360 in local is small if you ever fight in F-T or 9-9 ). BoB is still target n¦1 but can t we have some fun elsewhere and defend our POS ?

Firstly thanks to Goons, TCF and RA.. We wanted a party, and we were given it.. No complaints, great stuff.
Secondly, we have a lot of work to do when it comes to learning lag war.. You gave us all a good and hard lesson, and im sure we will remember it. I look forward to the next time.
Third, as for the battle itself.. Things went badly.. The -V- support fleet were ordered to support the capitals.. As it turns out, a majority of the fleet emergency warped on arrival // CTD'd etc.
The capital pilots such a Lanari could not activate mods, our support capitals were black screened or stuck in space.
At this point the Cow/Freefall Security gangs were engaging the incoming fleet entering LJ-YSW from the G-0 gate. Freefall were close range inside the bubbles, while Cow were sniping. On hearing that the -V- fleet were experiencing massive problems, Cow warped to a grid loading point at the POS. The plan was for Cow to try and support our now engaged capital fleet.
Unfortunately the plan didn't work as only a few pilots managed to load in over ten minutes.
Thank you to our allies and enemies a like.. Its a shame we could not of had a fight that was not controlled by lag. I look forward to next time.

I honestly dont understand how you can say you need more experience with lag after the north.
Anyway, im surprised at such a big operation now, it would, imo, make more sense to pull that once these forces are elsewhere occupied. Unless you enjoy playing hide and seek with lag of course.
Gl tho :)

There were 2 fights at the same time. TCF were mostly at the POS with the capitals so their killboard is missing a lot of the action that took place at the gate.

Originally by: threeD the command was given and our capital fleet undocked - I wont disclose numbers but lets say the much larger proportion of our cap fleet hit a black screen on undock.
None the less those undocked, made the warp to the spot 300+km from the pos in order to load the grid. We awaited our other capital pilots in teh hope that when they re-logged tehy would be able to join us.
Next time do not try and undock all at ones it makes the grid go wtf (commen problem with high use stations).
Second, warping only a part of your fleet while the rest is rellogging is also a newbie fc mistake.
Sure you had lagg (every fleet fight has these days) but reading your reports clearly shows some bad fc errors so don't just say 'we got to learn how to work with lagg' becous your fc's got to learn more then just that :/
