lots of peeps seem to be having this problem (myself included). As for offering suggestions, cant help you there. Ive tried plenty of network setting changes and restores myself to no avail. Have no clue whats happening :(

I experience the same problem for the last few days. I'm getting the connection lost message once or twice in an hour at random actions, while fighting, sitting at station doing nothing, etc.
I'm also often getting stucked while jumping or opening map, waiting several minutes and then have to quit eve.
I also deleted cache and all the logs but it didn't helped.
I never had any problem with connection before and I play other online games with good ping and no problems at all.

Yup same here. I can be sitting in a station, or flying about and it happens. Its a weird disconnect problem too. Sometimes I know its about to happen (e.g. hit wallet and balance wont update) but sometimes Im still getting chat messages. Other times chat is working fine and if I try something like getting the channellist, it'll case me to disconnect. I've tried traceroute to the server and it always comes up as host unreachable (tho its probably doesn't return ping requests anyway.)
I pretty much disconnect every few minutes so. At a loss at this stage. Zero had changed setting wise on either my computer or network before this started happening. If you find a solution for this let me know :P

Scratch it, I'm crashing every 10mins now. Sometime just the connection lost message, sometime with the Visual C++ error as well. Unplayable.

Out of interest, did you try a traceroute using pingplot? The problems Im having look like some isp is throttling the connection somewhere. Im prob way off, but Im at a total loss as to what to try so getting desperate :P

I don't care what anyone says about whiners: We pay for this game and it's a service just like any other. If you want to sympathize with game devs for having made over $50k a year OFF OF US then go ahead and preach, not me. I'll be damned if I'll pay for a 'game' that random hurts the player, not to mention some of the ridiculously broken mechanics such as invention which is a total waste unless working on very specific ships. I've been disconnected 4 times in missions in the past 24 hours and that's enough. My corp lost bpos into nothingness when a stupid bug relating to rental was finally dealt with after costing the corp over a billion isk in lost potential profit. I worked damn hard to get those bpos so if you want to call me a whiner for complaining that I didn't make money, you can go do 400 lvl 4 missions to get your own and then use it to build from mins you mined: then call me a whiner (you surely being the type of player who doesn't mine). We have put in time and thought and instead of making a whole bunch of 'shiny' new lower poly ships why not fix these errors related to stuffing everyone in 1 server. I can't imagine the inconveniences forced on people in fleet battles, defending structures etc in low sec. Here you have a game that forces the player to risk time money and spend months to get something. Then the game can take it away in 1 second with bull**** like this. I have cancelled 2 accounts and this is my last one. I am only still playing because my corpmates are friends and I don't want to let them down. As far as CCP, and their forum moderating thought police, go to hell and take your game with you.

Edited by: Mikal Zackfelt on 16/11/2007 20:50:55 Yeah, yesterday I started having random disconnects (same issues as the posters above, i.e. sitting in station, in space, no real activity except for the folks going in and out of local) for some odd reason. Glad to know I am not the only one having these issues. CCP, please look into this for us _________________________________ zomg! it's a pointless siggy... |

Anyway, problems are even worse now. Cant stay logged in for more than 5 minutes. I don't know if the C++ error and the disconnect are related or not (never had the C++ myself as far as I know). Been looking at the log files to see if I can get any info that might help but they only say "connection lost". Would love to see an official acknowledgment that is there a common problem people are suffering from. The worst part of situations like these just not knowing if anyone is looking into it.

Yeah, I just now got the C++ error as well, I think they are related too... cos as soon as I d/ced, I got that error, but before I would just d/c and get a connection lost error. It seems to be in the binary file that exefile.exe uses. Maybe this could help? Or maybe I am way off kilter.

It's a weird one alright. There are already some threads on the C++ issue, but I've never had it myself so I don't know. From my perspective they dont seem to be, as sometimes when I start Eve it will take a while before the server status info will come up.
The symptoms do seem like a network issue. Have you tried traceroute and if so can you reach the server? (server IP is 87.237.38.200 if you want to try). My trace always ends at 195.50.91.22 and after that it just says the host is unreachable.

I did a traceroute and it reached the destination. So I dunno what the issue with these random disconnects... _________________________________ zomg! it's a pointless siggy... |

I'm at a total loss then. Going to e-mail support as I don't have a huge amount of faith in the petition system and theres a long thread thats been going for days on these issues with no acknowledgment of these issues, so things dont look good.

Been messing about more. As was mentioned in another thread, the problem/part of the problem seems to be timing out while idle. if you do Ctrl-shift-alt M it'll bring up a monitor with a network tab. If you go mad browsing the market you'll see numbers for packets in going up and down. Stay idle for any short length of time and the packets in goes to nothing and soon after kaboom, connection lost.

that sounds correct, except I don't call a 0.1 second gap inbetween activating guns on targets being idle.. and constantly getting the message 'an attempt to activate this module is already underway'
