I know there used to be a thread discussing the running of EvE on a USB memory stick instead of installing it onto disk.
Does anyone have a link to this thread or can someone give me information on this topic?
I have a v.fast USB memory stick 4Gb, I have a Windows Vista PC and my XP laptop. Both run EvE ok. Ideally I'd like to run the same EvE client from both PCs (not at the same time obviously!).
I can install the memory stick as the E: drive on both systems and install EvE on it, but is there anything else I need to consider?

I do exactly what you want to do, so this is what I did.
Copy the entire EVE client sructure to the memory stick. If you are copying an active client to the memory stick you will need to copy the cache directory from C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\CCP\EVE to the EVE directory on the memory stick.
Create a shortcut to EVE executable in the top level of the memory stick and then add /end /LUA:OFF to the target field. This will created the cache directory on the memory stick instead of the hard drive. (Note: it will still create and EVE directory in the My Documents area)
EVE is then started by double clicking the shortcut on the memory stick.
This definitely works with XP although I haven't tried it with Vista because my Vista PC is down because of a failed graphics card.

I just tried this-- it won't let me add \end\LUA:OFF or /end/LUA:OFF to the end of the shortcut's target field, comes back with Quote: The name 'E:\EVE\eve.exe\end\LUA:OFF' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.
Any other ideas?
Edit: this on an XP machine.

Yeah thats not how to enter that. Those commands start with a space, and then a forward slash. as: /command Put a space between whats already in the run box and this command, and a space between each command.

Sorry forgot to mention what is originally in the target field should have double quotes round it.
eg: "E:\EVE\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF
