Can you petition? Yes
Does CCP's Rembursement Policy allow for replacement of ships lost due to non-server related disconnects? No
Should you petition? No
In summary, there is nothing stopping you from filing a petition, but if you do, you will just be wasting your time and the time of a GM. Petitions of that nature are a primary reason that legitimate petitions take so much longer to get a responce.

If a GM need to move you then it might have been server related. Request the ship loss be investigated in the petition that you filed to get the GM to move you.
Your original post suggested that it was simply an internet connection issue at your end, in which case a GM could not refund the lost ship.

First rule of Eve: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

I suppose that rule applies to motherships and most hardworking people

Edited by: Asestorian on 19/11/2007 23:34:38 The deciding case here will be whether the server was the cause of your loss, or if it was your client or internet connection. If it was the former, then the GMs will give your ship back (not sure about modules though, if they do you will only receive destroyed ones as they cannot be making duplicates of items, such as those that were left in your wreck). If it is the latter then they will reply politely informing you that their server logs show no server issues and you will not receive anything.
If you are stuck and unable to log in then petition them and ask them to move you, then when that is done, use that petition as an argument for getting your ship back. Although apparently plain lag doesn't get you anything, only server instabilities. Secondly, I don't know where you lost it but if it was Motsu/Saila (or whatever it is) then you have no excuse. Those places are always highly populated and laggy, and there is no reason to stick around there. If you weren't there, then ignore that last bit.
Edit:
Quote: I suppose that rule applies to motherships and most hardworking people
Motherships are alliance, and in some cases corporation (hell, even some stupidly rich people buy them for themselves), investments. If you're using a Mothership you're expected to have the resources to back it up on the field, which usually means the ability to replace it if lost too.
What do hardworking people have to do with anything?

Looks like this happened to a bunch of people yesterday. There's another thread in this subforum about a number of ships lost yesterday due to problems with the EVE client. When was this for you? The same thing happened to me on a mission yesterday. I did not lose my Internet connection, but the client nevertheless froze solid on me. In fact, I could not close EVE at all and had to reboot the entire laptop. By the time it took me to log back on (that's another thing, since the last update, it takes me a full minute to log into EVE now), I was floating in a pod.
I petitioned CCP, but they've never lifted a finger to help in the past with these lockup issues (the only program on my hard drive that ever has these problems, btw). If my petition is denied, it'll be the last straw for me. I'm already looking at other MMOs. -- Meridius Dex --

Can i have your stuff?
They cant reimburse you unless they can verify the problem was on their side. Otherwise they would have people turning off their modem every time they got in trouble. But if you cry so much over a lost ship EVE is not a game for you. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |
