Citadel. Some minutes ago. I login and see a newbies' Caracal on the directional scanner. I narrow it down to 5 degrees and he's not really near any celestial object. So I warp to the next planet and allign so I'm flying towards him, thinking that maybe he's a few grids into open space on a safespot. But no - he's 800 million km into space, says the scanner!
Is there anything I am missing - how can anyone be 800 mil km in deep space, off any celestial object, off any path between celestial objects, slightly off the plane? I did scan for exploration complexes like 10 times, there aren't any either. Do people fly for two weeks in an inty to make those safespots? Any tricks?
Inquiring minds want to know
p.s. yes, I know thats what probes are for

Edited by: Boknamar on 19/11/2007 21:19:16 It could be from a mission or exploration site, or they could make two bookmarks between different celestial objects and then make a bookmark between those bookmarks.

In the past there was a trick to build safespots completely out of the grid. You can't do that any more today. But if you still have the bookmarks, you can use them from that past.
The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my corps, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

I don't know if this would work in Low Sec, however...
He may well of used up almost all of his Cap, and then tried to warp somewhere. He would only warp part-way, and so could just sit there.

My bet is he bookmarked a mission site from some time in the past.

IIRC with a fast ship it would take you ages just to go 1 au.

You used to be able to stack mwd's
the age of the char you saw is immaterial cause this is eve.

Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes, ty. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

Going at 10km/s for 23 hours/day for 2 weeks gets you barely past 11M km, or 0.07au.
