Trying to evaluate the cost of setting up a complex reaction and I am confused. If each of 2 medium reactors produce 200 units per hour, why does the standard reactor only consume 100 units per hour of each? in other words, don't I need 2 standard reactors running complex reactions to keep up with 2 medium reactors?

Indeed you do. Or just sell the excess materials the medium reactors produce.

I am not entirely certain but I don't think you can set up a POS with 2 Medium Reactors and a Standard Reactor as you also need silos to supply the Mediums and to take the complex reaction
Example
Silo Silo Medium Silo Silo Medium Reactor Silo
This set up needs more CPU than a Large Tower has

Typically this means you have 3 large towers per set (1 with 2 med reactors and 2 with a large reactor each). If you get lucky/work it right you can do this with just 2 caldari towers (1 med 1 large reactor on each), but then the timing on the silos is so annoyingly short it's not worth it IMO.
You can't put 2 med and 1 large reactor on one tower, as they take 1500/3000 cpu each. You can squeeze on 1 med and 1 large but you are better off with the mediums on one pos (or 2 med POS's) and the larges on their own towers (though you can do 1 large reactor + mine one of the base products that you then move to one of the other towers fairly easily.

Well, I think I can do it with 2 Large and 1 small all in the same system, using an intermediate silo in both large and shuttle half the intermediate outputs back and forth: LG#1 moon harvester moon harvester med reactor array output coupling array output silo => simple #1 (take half) input silo <= simple #2 Reactor Array output coupling array output silo
Large #2 input silo <== mineral #4 moon harvester med reactor array output coupling array output silo => simple #2 input silo <= simple #1 Reactor Array output coupling array output silo
Small tower for 4th mineral
The set up cost, not counting guns, is around 2B. the output is around 1.8M / hr, or 300M a week. Operating costs on 2 large towers seems to exceed that dramatically (even using Dread Guristas towers), which is why I think I have something wrong.
The reaction produces 6000 per cycle, which is 1 hour. 2 reactors doing this is 12000. Highest price is 150. Hmm. Sounds like a loser, running that second large tower. And I was so excited.

that's the beauty of forums -- you can be stupid very loudly! I was comparing weekly revenue against monthly fuel costs. You give me hope again for the economics of Eve. That's a lot of fuel to transport, is my only reservation now. Well let me ponder.
Thanx all!
