I've had to move and won't be able to get internet for a while. I have access to computers at school, but can't install on them. I saw an 8GB flashdrive for sale, which should be enough harddrive space. So my question is can it be installed to a flashdrive and would it run?
I just wanna be able to change my skills... :( ----
And no I'm not an alt. |

Hi, I have tried a thumbdrive and it is missing a couple .DLLs that are on the system from installing. I copied the game to my drive so I didn't have them. A few months ago i read here in the forums that it is possible to install it on an IPod and run it at a public Library.
Good luck.

It is possible to run Eve off of a flashdrive without any issues providing the drive is big enough to hold Eve. |

I would also be very interested in knowing if I can install EVE to a USB stick and be able to run it on various computers by bringing the USB stick with me. cause that would just be sweet! (and very helpfull during these holiday times when one might go to visit family and not brining their computer with)

There are several distributions of Linux designed to work on a flash drive... FlashLinux for example, can fit easily on a 256mb usb stick. The trouble with that of course, is you have to be able to boot into it, which can't really be done if you're using a school computer.
If you copy a Windows install onto a usb stick though, you could find out what dlls it needs easily enough, and if you then copied them to the usb stick too, in the program's directory, then it should work, as programs check their own directory, then the system32 directory for dlls.
I'm going to experiment with this I think, I'll let you know if I manage anything.

It's fairly straight forward. Just copy all the EVE stuff from your PC to the stick and then create a shortcut in the top level of the stick to "eve.exe". Now right click on the shortcut and select the properties option and add '/end /LUA:OFF' (without the quotes and you will need to put " " around what is already in the target field) to the end of the Target field, this will cause the cache to be created on the stick. The EVE directory will still be created in the My Documents directory but that's no biggie really.
Once that is done, you now have a copy of EVE that you can acrry around with you and play on any windows PC (certainly XP because I haven't tried it on Vista) subject to spec. Ocasionallly you may need to edit the drive letter in the Target and Start Fron fields of the Properties pane if you are using a PC that has more that one drive.
