Well done! I've been playing almost a year (has been that long already? ) I wish I had this guide when I started would have saved me alot headaches about low-sec. Excellent job.

Good guide.
Only issue I have is with the comments on the starting attributes.
Maybe I'm misreading it (I'm still trying to shake off the weekend), but it seems as if you suggest adding more points to the attributes that you already get bonuses for from your bloodline. As in adding more to perception and willpower when you already have a decent amount of both, and neglecting the other attributes. Is that correct? Or is it the other way around?
I'd suggest trying to keep your attributes fairly even, but that's just my .02 isk.

It seems to explain the importance of the attributes, but doesn't specifically advise what to get.
Basically a blanket statement of "balanced attributes" would be best for pretty much everyone's first character. Someone who's been around for a bit would know what they need to get a decent purpose-designed alt, as well as the up/downsides, IMO. Ofc CHA gets no love, but that's ok, it's not really that important unless you have a big corp CEO or Commandship pilot anyways. Then again, if you do, you could probably write a newb guide as well.
Props on the guide, many faq's answered in here.

I do understand the point you guys are making. But on the other hand the start of the guide did say that some people would disagree with some of my suggestions.
But, since you do raise a valid point I will add a notation mentioning that there are people who prefer a balanced attribute setup. I personally do not, I use a setup that is highly biased toward Intel/Memory.

It is debateable, but IMO the first character is usually going to be the broadest character anyone makes. In the case of industry characters, perception/willpower translates into shorter learn times for mining barge V, Industrial ship V, and Transport ships. These skills are pretty important, and of course, take a long time. If people are okay training them out to 30+ days, that's their choice I suppose.
The concern I suppose would be the long term plans. Industry types focus on refining and ore-specific processing skills, and apart from the above-mentioned ship skills don't really need PERC/WILL. It's negligible, but for long term, say capital ships, you are looking at 4 or 5 skills at V, minimum.
I can see why it's hard to dispense advice about this, and I can't blame you.
Still, good place for many to start, gj Master Entreri.

Very nice guide, Master Entreri. I'm just making the transition from trial to permanent account, and I enjoyed reading your material. You offer a new perspective on a few issues I'd already been thinking about, and a preview of others that I hadn't yet considered. Thanks for the time and effort than went into creating this guide!

You mention the Caldari are good for PVE. Just to clarify for the new players that is because the NPC's do not run from battle so Shield Tanking, 0 Electronic Warfare, and Long Range Combat with Missiles (As the NPCs often prefer close range weapons) tends to be a good mixture. However, Gallente can do this just as well as the Caldari.
On the other hand however, the Caldari are very poor for PvP due largely to having the slowest ships in the game. As one might expect, being unable to keep distance with an enemy (close or far) will ultimately lead to your defeat. Missiles while variable in Damage are not very powerful in their Rate of Fire which leaves their DPS low. Furthermore, Real Player threats will attempt to escape if they are weak enough and you will need at least 3 Medium slots dedicated to preventing this. With that in mind your ability to Tank with your Shields who's modules all exist on the same level is gimped. Meaning if you wish to successfuly PvP you will either need someone else to Lock your Enemy in Place or will suffer a Lack of Staying Power in your own right. You could choose to Armor Tank SOME Caldari ships and succeed but it is the exception not the rule.
Caldari Ships also have relatively low Power Grids but high CPU meaning they equip Missiles and Electronic Warfar well but Turret Based Weaponry poorly.
So be advised, though the beginning information in-game would suggest them as a powerful military force they are not. Think of them more as just elite Industrailists who can specailize in Black Ops warfare but not in actual killing. However, you can always BE Caldari and train the other Race's ships, it takes time so it is best to start right off if that is your desire.
If you are looking to be the one to actually kill things in PvP your best bet is Gallente are their Drones share the missile ability to Choose Damage type but are more effective and do not put any taxation upon your Ship's Ability to fit Modules. They also can move a bit faster, can handle some E-War, and Armor Tank VERY well if set up correctly.
Minmatar are another fine choice. Very fast, thus able to pick their ranges very well. Their ability to absorb damage is lacking but they can move fast enough and generally hit hard enough to make up for this failing. However, flying Matari is a lot of work, but thrilling and exciting, so if you are not one who likes to make split second decisions and be on the ball hardcore in a fight they may be a bit too stressful for you. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

Is there a way to print this or a printable version somewhere?
I'm finding LOTS of excellent guides in the forums. Too bad they don't have permanent stickies or .doc versions.
Great work!
