So much work done, all ship models modified or completly redone - and not a single ship that has set of maneuvering engines. This is space ffs, there is no other way to change course than to rotate ship so main engine can do its work. Ok, maybe it is to hard to implement, to complicated, and won't we so spectacular. So maybe something small, not changeing antything in gameplay - disable the thrusters animation when ship isnt changing its speed or direction. That is simple client side modification but ships wont look so stupid ;) |

Such a "hypocritical" statement, not by you per say, but by some.
Same as with nerf.
Nerf is only a nerf if it happens to you, it's a "balance" issue otherwise.
Some things are countered with "EVE is not real life", while using it in their example is totally valid

Reminder: Eve is just a game. Games are about having fun. Enhancing the realism of in flight animation beyond what it already is does not improve the "fun" aspect in any significant manner for the large majority of Eve players. This is a non-issue and should be at the very bottom of the priority list.

Orbiter, your dream game.
Remember, the "medphys" "ucl" and "ac" make it sound really serious.
Once you play that, then you can come back here and be glad that you aren't working for NASA.

Well done, your knowledge of matter-impulse propulsion seems pretty on-target. Now, how's your knowledge on trans-dimensional high-energy field projection propulsion? |

I don't quite agree, if you do that then the remaining physical inaccuracies will look even more stupid. :) As it is, we can try to suspend our disbelief into thinking that EVE space is some kind of unique space where there is friction and you steer by... uh... maybe that's what the sails on Minmatar ships are for. :P
Given that EVE is not a flight simulator but more like an RPG ("MMOG" isn't a genre to me anymore than "single player game"), I don't really care how the spaceships move. Although I think that the new Battlestar Galactica should have proven that slightly more physically correct behaviour can look pretty darn awesome.

Random Piece of Information: The eve physics engine is called 'Destiny' and is only peripherally linked to the graphics engine.
Also, prove to me that the physics of the propulsion [read: FTL Warp and wormhole jump] and inertia dampening techniques they use in EVE don't result in the physics environment we see in game. Maybe there are drawbacks to technology that is several thousand years more advanced than our own that we are unable to comprehend with 'modern' science.

So you know how engines work in EVE?
Thought not. Given that the ships' motion does not appear Newtonian, they are not using a known form of propulsion, and thus the rules are unknown. -
