Edited by: lofty29 on 20/11/2007 18:24:01 ...total ****
I was playing it at college today on a 360, and it came nowhere near to my expectations. It's pretty enough, even on a ****ty low-res projector / console, and it'll look even better on PC, but the gameplay is so bad.
The guard's AI is so utterly ****, and the fights you inevitably have with them are boring, repetitive button-bashes. The game as a whole is too easy. It does it all for you. You run at a wall, press a button, and it jumps you up it. Shimmy along a ledge, hit button, repeat. It's all too easy. The combat is the same - hit button 1 to stab, button 2 to stab in a different way, etc. The guards only come at you one at a time as well, meaning it's way, way too easy. The actual assassinations are way, way easy. I'd expected some kind of tricky buildup before the final blow is laid, either by getting into position or through some other means, but no. You just run in, watch a little cutscene, then stab the guy in the face, just like the last one.
Another game with so much promise, but really bad execution. I only heard about it 6 months ago, and was expecting at least 2 more years in development, but it's been rushed out superfast, and all the console fanboys rushed to buy it. Now the devs are rich ****s from a sub-standard game.
I won't be buying it on PC ---

The first 2 hours or so is just bashing the same guard mobs over and over. Even WoW is less repetitive ---

I have 60 lvl 70's and I raid 50 hours a week. I alt tab to play EvE while in a raid. Oh yeah, I farm motes of water 3 hours a day.
AC: yeah it is same thing over and over, however, don't take jabs at a unique way of using the controller. The reason they made traversing the city-scape so easy is so that you get a very clear feel that running along rooftops and evading negative situations is almost a reflex. I've had more fun just running around the cities ****ing off the guards and jumping all over the place to get away. In short, I love the control scheme. --------------------------------------

I agree that the freerunning is fun, but the novelty wears off after a few hours, and I long for something more challenging. The game feels like it's been made for total newbs ---

I got that impression from the trailer I saw on TV.
Having never played the game before, or even read a review, Im going to guess that:
1. The "Spectacular graphics" consist of some fancy textures and enough HDR to upset Ray Charles. 2. At some point in the game you are going to be forced to "sneak" or you will fail some sort of mission/level. 3. Despite the cool movement and the spiffy stealth stuff brute force will be the most effective way to do things. 4. The AI is going to have an IQ slightly above that of a goldfish, with a memory time to match. Despite this the harder enemys are going to have very good aim and possibly ESP leading the game reviewers to say the game has great AI.
Anyone care to confirm/deny these guesses? _______________________________ Pleese exucse any seplling erorr's in tihs psot |

I've completed the game, still have some of the 'grindy' bits to do when I feel like it.
It is a bit repetitive in terms of combat, but I'd say thats a limitation of the melee genre.
You will lose the later fights with button spamming, you need to learn the counters/dodges , in earlier fights with the guards you can get away with spamming. Last few fights I got slaughtered about 20-30 times and had to learn properly. (hint: take your time)
I really liked the plot, leaving lots of it up to the player to discover in the lab is a nice trick.
Worst part: Instant death when you fall in water - I was close to throwing my wireless controller through the window after too many similar deaths here.

Oh yeah, another thing.
You're the best assassin in the middle east. You can leap around entire cityscapes in a matter of minutes, climbing over rooftops, launching yourself through the air effortlessly. You can fight numerously outnumbered, and down many hundreds of city guards. You can assassinate some of the most important people, in the most heavily guarded scenarios.
You can't swim.

This is the sad reality we gamers face today. Personally I had high hopes for Crysis and the demo promised nothing but awesome, but anyone that has played through the game probably agree that the game turned into a mediocre shooter after a while.
I was surprised with The Witcher though, its a raw gem that is a little uneven in the corners, but it delivered. And with EA's purchase of BioWare, I really really hope that doesn't change anything from BioWare's previous releases onto the PC because Mass Effect is definately a must have.

I was so thinking of buying this for the xbox 360, looks fekin ace. The TV spots do its more credit then it actually deserves then by the sound of it. It looks like you can combo very cool moves together and the music from the 2 adverts just keep you thinking about it, well at least me anyway.
Massive Attack - Teardrop and UNKLE - Lonely Souls

It's not worth the time to google it tbh. And lest anyone think the guy who drew it isn't a spoogepouch just because Ubi would sue him if they knew how the internets worked, this just in from the internet police:
Quote: Home Skillet says (17:27): Serves ubisoft right though. As someone said in Kotaku's comments, they use her as eye candy to get people to buy the game Home Skillet says (17:34): I noticed the guy who made the comic though, there's a link to his deviantart on one link He also draws Chuggworth academy which is about promiscuous underage girls. Home Skillet says (17:35): Before that, he used to draw child**** on 4chan with the name "hentaikid". He's in his mid thirties. So it's not like the creative mind behind this is stellar either Home Skillet says (17:40): He is also from UK, so uh.. Home Skillet says (17:49): Remembered his name wrong It was "Scribblekid" Still same guy though Home Skillet says (18:30): The guy who drew it draws child**** goddamnit, if this were the Sun I'd be getting a payraise
