My lvl 2 agent sended me with my punisher agaist some bounty hunters with missles, well i didnt even reached them before i was killed ... what are good (cheap for noob) countermeasure against them ?

you need to learn how to use a smartbomb. For that you need to the energy pulse weapon skill.
Fit one in your high slot instead of a gun. Time it right and you will destroy to missiles before they hit you. keep an eye on the cap though.

Thats a hard one.
I pilot mainly amarr ships (sometimes caldari) and have found that Amarr ships in general are hard pressed to fight against missiles.
i normally try to go faster than the missiles (MWD) or tank up enough to withstand a few hits and then run -----

Hmmm .. do NPC Pirates have unlimted ammo ? I need to kill them and not to run from them :)

You could use a SB yes, but there are also Defender missiles that will take care of the enemies missiles. As for the question to if theyhad an unlimited supply of missiles, as far as I know they are limitless in ammo and even cap.

Edited by: Ethidium Bromide on 05/03/2004 15:02:29 you will have to use the smartbomb as the punisher has no launcher hardpoint( so you can't use defenders).
what might help aswell is to always have several sets of lenses in your cargo! equip radio s lenses and check the optimal range and warp in a little out of that range so you can target the npcs till you get into optimal range. only shoot at one at a time. when the npc gets closer change to the next set of lenses that have a lower optimal range. or try to right klick on the targetted ship and use "keep at range"- "curent xxkm" this should be +/- 1.5km from optimal range of your beams. the pun should be fast enough to keep em there without problems. if your shields are down warp to a planet till your shield and capacitor are recharged.
do NOT dock!! this will cause the allready killed npcs to respawn.
if you do this you should be able to take out even massive frigatte spawns. oh and try to get and fit a damage modifier.
another very important thing is too kep your beams at equal range.
if all this doesn't work call for help in local. many players help you out with problems like this.

Amarr have a missle frigate, the inquisitor I believe, it's worth picking up. Defender and heavy missles make short work of most all npc frigates. The other option is to bite the bullet and get to cruiser, with a Maller, Npc frigates die in short order from 45km+ before too many of their missiles eat through your 900 shield.

I had this trouble last night as well, I'm new to Eve so didn't know what to expect. In my Rifter I was sent on a mission to kill 3 Bounty Hunter Rookies and they started firing missiles at 48km, the first 2 salvos detonated cause they couldn't reach me, by then I'm in range and have another 4-5 salvo's coming at me. =\ With a set of 280mm howitzers and keeping distance at 20km I could outrun the missiles and still do damage, but had to loose a Rifter to find out. =(
Thanks for the tips in this thread, I'll have to look into a launcher and some Defenders. =)

I find it helps to go with longer range weapons, long range ammo, orbit your target, use an afterburner for an extra boost away from the missles. sometimes you can out run them.
I have a Rifter. 1v1 I just go toe to toe missle for missle. anything more than that and it turns into a huge hit and run battle.
