I regret to inform you all that I need to bring a relatively high value corp theft to the attention of the Eve community.
Eve University, for those of you not familiar with us, is a neutral training corp founded over three and a half years ago. Throughout this time, we have taken new pilots, trained them in various aspects of EVE, everything from PvP to Industry, and let them free into the galaxy to make their own name.
At approximately 17:00 Eve Time on November 16th, a large volume of assets stored in the Eve University corporate hangars in Korsiki were taken by one of the Freshmen, Hasu Nenshou.
Unfortunately this theft was due to an accidental granting of the incorrect role by one of the directors (something as simple as a miss-click), unfortunately Hasu Nenshou apparently decided to take what he could and make a run for it rather than bring this to the attention of a Director. It goes without saying that the items were passed off to a third party, and have since disappeared.
Normal procedure is to grant roles allowing access to progressively more valuable hangars, which are regularly restocked, however in this case an unfortunate mistake was made which allowed the Freshman to access the stock hangars with unrestricted access. Luckily not everything was taken - items in the hangars reserved for Freshmen, Students and the like were somewhat untouched, and the audit containers were left, allowing us to both identify the thief and estimate the losses. Finally, changes to the way roles are assigned have been made to prevent this from reoccurring.
An estimate of the market value of the items stolen is below. These represent the majority of the ISK value contained in the corporate hangars at the time.
- 2 billion ISK in Tech 2 Assets designated as resale items to generate revenue for the University.
- 200 million ISK in Ship BPCs
- 500 million ISK in Ship and module BPOs
- 100 million ISK in Implants
- 70 million ISK in Tech 1 Ships (frigates and cruisers)
- Invention items of indeterminate value
Estimated Market Value: 2,870,000,000 ISK (Plus Invention Items)
If anybody has any questions or comments, I am available via evemail or convo in-game.
Regards,

I agree 100%. Tell us the name of the director repsonsible for the misclick and lets get on with it.
Seriously tough, if someone, especially a new player, got his bearings and stole almost 3 bil after accidentally receiving the roles... Nice reflex, job well done.

Of all the corps to get ripped off, I hate to see this one the most. Given it's an error and not a well conceived plot, I presume this guy has decided to start his eve life in a way that'll guarantee he won't get into a lot of corps! That's way more expensive that 2 bil.

LOL, sorry to laugh, but it is quite amusing, A corp sworn to Trining Noobs, Making a costly Noobish Mistake, Just goes to show an experienced Eve Corp can make mistakes, and teach themselves something for a change. Please stop Flaming the Thief he only did what a vast majority of other players would have done given the opertunity. I remeber first looking round about setting up a corp, I believe the first "unwritten" rule i came across reguarding Corps was 'Watch who you give access to you hangers'.
Ashame it happend to a well respected, helpful Corp but as with all in Eve we learn and grow stonger from mistakes we make, or we Fail.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I don't think that humanity has fallen so far that thiefs and slimy jerks are in the majority. It might make people who have a similar lack of moral character and who engage in this behavior feel better by telling themselves that though. Sad that a corp dedicated to teaching new EVE pilots, which helps us all in the long run, would be targeted like this...but the RL news is filled with people stealing from schools, churches, etc, and thiefs by definition have no moral character so guess I shouldn't be surprised.

In regards to eve university its almost impossible to stay neutral and still give pvp training as theres always gotta be somone to shoot. I think eve uni means its neutral in that it will train anyone.

Eve University, I'm sorry you were betrayed by one of the very people you have set out to help. And I'm sorry that, judging from a lot of responses I've seen and comments I've heard, a large portion of the player base still doesn't take you seriously or even understand what you're trying to accomplish.
As for Hasu Nenshou, I'm sorry that you are one of those people. I'm sorry that you think that things like honesty have no place in a virtual world. And I'm sorry that, as a result of this, you won't get to experience being part of one of the most respected organizations in Eve.
I call upon anyone who DOES respect the University's mission, if you have not done so already, to donate a bit of ISK to help EUNI recover what it has lost. EUNI helped us when we were in need, now it's time for us to return the favor.

How is Eve-uni not neutral in all ways? They never War-dec anyone, they only defend themselves from attacking corps (which they do quite well), and the only corps that get negative standings are those that have attacked or stolen from the corp or its members. I can't even think of any members that get turned away, or corp recruitment refused as even Pirate corps are allowed to recruit new members from Eve-uni on their own forums.

Exactly what I was thinking. Laughing with, not at you EUNI! (I am a former student after all. Sorry for your loss.
I just hope you don't implement stricter recruitment policies after this as many corps would be prone to do. The fact that EUNI is so open seems so crucial to its goals, but at the same time a source of risk. However the UNI actually were in any sort of financial trouble the community would rally around it. Seems like the whoever's mismanagement was a much greater contributor than the fact that you let in a bad seed.

Thanks, its just a shame we cant do the same for all our students :)
Some of you seem to have missed some of my original post, so I will clarify a few points:
- We have hangars grouped into member types - Freshman, Student, Graduate, Instructor and so on, with a couple of other hangars holding the majority of stock, with items for corp projects and so on. Items are moved from the stock hangars to the others in such a way that a corp theft will at most cost a few million ISK.
- Students are granted roles based on their time in the corp, and how much they have been involved with lessons and events - basically as trust increases, so does the amount that can be accessed in the hangar.
- We have around 70 people moving to Freshman status per week - that's quite a lot of clicks, and as it was, there was a 'Hangar Manager' title directly below the 'Freshman' title. This was the role which was accidentally granted, and would of course have lead to the freshman in question being able to access the appropriate hangar as expected, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
- The accident was indeed an accident, and I really don't believe there is any need to punish the director. Can all of you say you have never clicked the wrong button?
- The procedures we have in place with the escalating access do work (and the fact we haven't had a sizable corp theft in a long time proves this), and in this case it was a mistake that cant happen again as the title is now gone, having been replaced with individual roles.
- The student hangars (with modules, ammo, skillbooks, ships and so on) are pretty much unaffected - as mentioned, the theft was mainly the stores used to refresh these hangars and some corp revenue generation projects, so nothing that impacts the students immediately.
I would also like to thank all of you who have donated - it is greatly appreciated.

True enough. But as you see proclaiming publically you'll donate and you are awesome is way more popular approach than yours.
P.S.
I am shocked! The guilty party should be banned from the game, he should be hunted and killed repeatedly for doing this unthinkably terrible, no, not terrible, this anti-civilizational crime! It is an active attempt to ruin the game itself (lol)! Do I get a cookie now?

Actually , any attack on Eve uni is a bonus to student training. It highlights the sandbox nature of Eve - nobody is ever safe , you can't build stuff on your own and expect to not be disturbed. Eve uni's status prevents it from teaching its members how to predate on people - but at least they can practice corporate defense.

eve uni LOVE wardecs, but not loads all at once or never ending. And looking at their KB only MDK ever beat them in a war.
still hard to believe corps war dec tham and go at them one at a time in tech II ships with full tech 2 fits, only to get blown up and podded. If you want to beat eve uni you gotta camp them in korsiki using sniper setups to beat their morale, cos those tech one fitted frigs and cruisers are replaced in seconds and they actually enjoy losing them when they know they just helped blow up a ship worth hundreds of times more.

Well, the response to this has really been amazing - donations have come in from all over the universe, from small corporations to large 0.0 alliances, industial groups to pirates - it really is astounding to see the level of support we have had from the community.
I am also very pleased to announce that as of just after midnight, the losses listed in the original post have been covered!
The hangars which were stolen from will be returned to how they were before, with blueprints, modules and ships restocked, and our projects will continue on, training the next generation of pilots.
To the whole community, on behalf of Eve University and its students, thank you!

There isn't even a 'WANTED' contract out on this individual.
Hasu Nenshou should be hunted down and podded with extreme prejudice by every Eve player.

Are you serious? Unless you're planning on breaking into teh kids house and stealing all his girly mags from him you arent going to bring anyone to 'justice' in any sense. yeah they should disclose their full api to clear thier name to a tribunal (all characters and wallet info revealed yeah?)or something, tbh i never even knew what a corp hangar was when i was a noobling, that a noob should have it by accident and suddenly clean it dry does raise an eyebrow.

If the man has any sense he's transferred the isk (and yes by now it's probably mostly isk) and any remaining items to a second account and deleted the character.

I hope they recover from the loss as soon as possible.
A firm moral stance works better when you are not part of KOS, the ones that protect and guard isk-farmers to the point that they don't even hide it in alliance chat. :)
Hmmm if you mention farmers in alliance chat you will see they arent very much liked. If you find somone farming forward thier name to the kos leadership and we will look into it. If we are all farmers though you are welcome to come down to our space setana and try us.
In regards to eve university its almost impossible to stay neutral and still give pvp training as theres always gotta be somone to shoot. I think eve uni means its neutral in that it will train anyone.
Yeah right, KOS leadership just as IAC leadership encourages the presence of isk farmers and will do nothing to kick them out. Why ?; it's simple, because they profit from it by means of the corp tax of 10-20%. There has been a very interesting runour circulating about your good buddies from IAC and their isk farmers, they aren't letting them out of the alliance by any means, look it up, might change your view of that pile of **** that you call "my alliance". As for the "If we are all farmers though you are welcome to come down to our space setana and try us.", you are missinterpreting what i said. I said that you encourage isk farmers and protect them, i didn't say that all of you are isk farmers. And i don't need to come down to your space to find a KOS isk farmer. Everywhere in EVE you can find cloaking-wcs-fitted-torp-ravens that are at present or were in the past associated with your alliance.
Have fun, keep the isk-farmers in the alliance for pos-fuel isk. :)
