The test we did this Tuesday with fleet warfare went very well, and gave us a lot of data to work with and we want more! Now that the new graphics engine is up on Singularity we would like to have an even bigger fleet fight.
This Friday, 23 November, at 11:00 GMT, we will gather in FD-MLJ on Singularity for battle, and we ask as many of you to come as possible to test fleet warfare. We will use the in-game channel "Fleet Assault" and if you’re willing to participate in this endeavor you can download the latest Singularity client here. Before you log in, please make sure you have logserver from your EVE directory running and add the following line to your prefs.ini file in the cache folder for your Singularity client:
hideDesyncSymptoms=0.
This is a temporary setting that we are using to help us find the error.
With the last tests we have made a lot of progress with finding the causes of the desync issues. We're very grateful for everyone who helped us test and we hope we get as many to help with the test on Friday.

Edited by: RigelKentaurus on 22/11/2007 17:28:36 Will the changes about the trinity engine be reverted for the stress test?
Trinity doesn't seem to be fully operational yet, and it could be rather annoying to have some random crashes/bugs while fighting.
Edit: ok I'm blind, you said that since there's the new engine blablabla... But it doesn't change the fact that testing two differents things at the same time is not a very good idea... _________
Someday, EVE might look like this. |

Hi Wrangler, could you clear this a little bit ? Trinity 2 is on Singularity ? And will it be an "armageddon day" like the month before ?
If it's two "yes", I think you will have tons of people waiting to log on singularity and pewpew with you.
-edit- Ok I see. The Trinity engine 2 is there, running with low-res objects. Nice. 2isk

Don't forget to mention that they should set the logserver to server mode: Tools -> Server Mode (100.000)

Id just like to point out that this is a VERY bad day to try something like this as its the day after thanksgiving in the US. So most people are on holiday and or shopping as its the busyest day of the year.

don't worry, in europe it's a standard working day, with even fewer potential participants.

Not all of us EvE-Geeks in the US are crazy about fighting the crowds on Black Friday. And may of us still have off . See you in 7 hours! ---------

Eeee... Who sets the test times? 11.00 GMT is the middle of workday for the Euro folks and around 5.00 AM for the US peeps (not for all of course).

You have to have logged in at least once for a cache directory to be created, and be aware that it could be in your game directory if you are using the /LUA:OFF switch, or it could be in your <username>\local settings\application data folder if you are not using that switch.

so if i dont use the switch the prefs.ini is the same for both test and normal clients. So i put the hideDesyncSymptoms=0 in \Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings ? There is also a \Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\cache\Settings\ which dont contains a prefs.ini

Well, that was fun.
Didn't get any desync issues, though, so nothing to report on that from my side. Lag was hard, but I guess that's to be expected on the poor little test server.
The Aurora Ominae at the end was cheeky
Ciao, Aronis!

Edited by: Z3r0n on 23/11/2007 12:23:40 I also didn't have any desync whatsoever. However both the lag and client side "lag" (FPS and UI responsivnes) were pretty bad on and off.
It's still a big improvment and the test was great fun.
Just shout if you need more help testing. |

My screen hung and the logserver crashed for some reason (maybe because it's 140MB in log entries from just one session).
Where do i report these logs to?

Edited by: Adunh Slavy on 23/11/2007 13:08:01 Trying to upload my logserver file, it is 10 megs zipped, the bug report page, where a red text person in local said we should send our files, limits us to 2 megs. The page seems to upload the file but the progress bar on the browser gets to 99% and just sits there.
Any ideas?
Woops, well just got a 500 from the bug report page. :P -AS

Was logserver supposed to make a special logfile? I have the standard logfiles sitting here, and they are nowhere near the sizes people are talking about.
