Having problems with Linux
I've been trying for the past few days to get Eve Linux working, but so far with no luck.
Currently when I run eve I get the initial eve online splash (initial opening screen) after which I am left with a black (blank) box where I would normally be able to view the login screen.
I am very new to Linux, I have managed to use Wine to get WOW working, I have tried using Wine with eve, but had the same problem.
When I run the eve Configure tool and use the ôSystem Testsö tool I get a green pass for all but the OSS Sound and ALAS sound. I have tried changing sound to ôdefaultö in the options menu as some have said, I have tried everything I can think off and still eve does the same thing on start-up.
I'm wondering now if my system is just totally in-compatible with Eve-Linux, here's my system specifications.
(Operating system: Ubuntu 7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon) ôSystem / Hardware Settingsö

Find the prefs.ini and try adding this to it:
audio=0 audiodriver=0 voiceenabled=0
you'll find it burried in the .wine/drive_c/windows folder hierarcy; I posted where in another thread... can't find it :S
Dunno the first thing about the Cegeda thing, other than ATi = no go for the most part.

Going to bet this is the problem. I've already bug reported a sblive external USB issue with alsa/oss failing the system tests.
If you have a regular internal sound card, try with that.
