I'm sure this is question is easily answered. I noticed that the Caldari Navy LP store has a few Skill books for sale. Because of that I assume that all corporations sell skill books and different kinds of them. I want to start working for the corp that sells the salvaging skill book but I don't have a clue which does(not sure if I want to spend 900k on it). Is there a website I can go to that lists the LP stores of each corporation?

LP stores normally only sell very expensive and rare skills I believe. The salvaging skill is neither. 900k is very cheap for a skill. Some of the skills I have to buy are 15,000,000+ and it can go up from there.

The most I've had to spend on any skill is 450k and that was my cruiser skill. How is it that salvaging is so much more rare and expensive then cruiser? It seems absurd to spend nearly a million if there is a way I can cheapen the deal. I already spent half my cash buying my new cruiser, outfitting it and insuring it.

Any of the bases affiliated with a school will sell skill books.
During your initial training with Aura when you started the game - she gave you a reference to an Tutorial Agent. He in turn, if you did his two missions gave you a reference to another an Event Agent. Either of the bases these Agents are at will sell skill books.
Most of them come at a base price that does not change for that skill and is the same all all schools.
Sometimes though you can pick them up a little cheaper if is someone is unloading some he picked up as part of a mission.
I believe the Salvaging Skill is one of those given out for free by the Business Schools along with it's prerequisite Survey (which you must have to Level III to train Salvage).

EVE is an expensive game.
And yes ... when I first started this game ... I thought a Million ISK was a lot of money too ... it isn't.

one thing you also have to keep in mind is that players will buy the skill for almost nothing and bring it to a station in a system that dosnt have that skill and set the price really high.
I dont know if that is the case for you or not as I dont know where you are, but it is a possiblity.

It's always best to check prices from the market tab before buying anything. Otherwise you may end up paying twice as much for an item that's sold for cheaper next system over.
For some older players, that's no big deal. I won't cry over using extra 30k for a module when it saves me five minutes in travel time. For a newbie, that can be a remarkable part of funds.
900k isn't anything to cry over, by the way. Yesterday I loaded skillbooks up my skull for over 30mil, and that's still peanuts compared to the really expensive ones.

When you consider that a pieces of salvage (Melted Capacitor Consoles and Alloyed Tritanium Bars come to mind) sell for 200-350k ISK, you can make the price of the skillbook back with just a few of these. Realistically I would expect that the loot and salvage from three to four level 1 missions would come to 900k, recouping your investment in probably an hour or two.
Considering that you seem to be hesitant to buy the book because of its high price, I am concluding that you only have a few million ISK at most - in which case, this is even more of a reason to get the salvaging skill ASAP. It will double or triple the amount of money you make from running agent missions, and if you have a corpmate you can tag along with for higher-level missions, you can be making literally millions of ISK an hour.

You won't get the salvaging skill for much under 900K. This is still a cheap skill.
Salvaging, as has been already pointed out, will net you millions rather quickly. Wait until you need some tractor beams to speed the process (they're about 1.4m each).
I recently spent 40m on research project management. It earns me about 30m a week now.
It's all relative.
