Recently after becoming increasingly annoyed with lazers and limited damage types I decided to train caldari ships. My goal was a caracal, although I've heard so much about the drake and how it can do many things PvE. At this point I have very little missile skills, but have pushed all my time into training them and shield skills while flying the caracal. I am interested only in PvE ratting/missions, at how many SPs should I transition into a drake?
At this current time I'm able to fit the standard drake passive tanking setup with the active hardeners as well. All modules are T1 only.
Thanks ahead of time for any advice or replies. I apologize if this is too vague or broad of a question.
Cheers

Edited by: Squatdog on 23/11/2007 07:17:22 Probably as soon as you can afford to buy a Drake and still have enough ISK left over to by a replacement when it gets popped. Being able to cram 7 x Heavy Launchers + all the extras you want is a good sign too.
Drakes are awesome; I can comfortably take down two 1.25m rats while keeping a 100k rat alive for chaining in 0.0
This is with slightly over 2m skill points invested.

If you're just using it for pve then it's fine to switch as soon as you can fit it. Depending on what level of missions you are doing you might want to use 1 or 2 heavy assault launcher for the frigate spawns.

You can easly put 2M SPs in shield skills alone. Basic: Shield Operation at 5, Shield Managment at 4 minimum, Battlecruisers 4; For passive tank: Shield Managment 5, EM/Explo/Kin/Thermal Compensations at 4, Shield Upgrades 4; For active tank: Shield Compensation 5, Tactical Shield Manipulation 4.
Missiles are easier than guns, beacause, you don't have to worry about smaller, to train for bigger. So... Heavy missiles 4 should be enough, but I recommend 5 and specialization for better rof from tech 2 launchers. Support skills, like guided missile precision, warhead upgrades etc. as high, as you can. And WU and AWU of course.

LOL@all that...
I can easily take down double 1.25m BS spawns with my Drake in 0.0 with a fraction of those skills and not a single one maxed out (apart from Electronics).

Mona, those aren't the minimum skills he was asking for. Those are extremely-competent level skills.
Everyone does fine in level 4s with much lower skills than that.
