We stumble through this world Slave to haunting melody Stalked by dogged memory
We hunt each other with word And sometimes sword We build the dawn with bone And the sunset with our wishes
Each of us a muse, but mute A tapestry of song distended Divided by flesh, united in death We each cling to hope as time binds our hands
And the melody haunts in its simplicity and repetition Our perspective never wide enough To trap the butterfly with reason
If there is a positive response, I'll post more. feel free to leave criticism, your own poems, whatever.

Post another one, please, Hedon. You may be the only one in our alliance who can write poems not set in "Nantucket."
And there are more poets out there hiding behind the asteroids. I've read the verse they sneak into their bios.

Nantucket is a good place for poems. In any case, here is another:
Sweetly serenaded By a nagging sense of doubt Perceptions held to scrutiny That none can long withstand The failings, once seen Grow to define And the pessimism widens Encompassing sight and sound And the world, once ignored Must be endured

ThereÆs a place so dark you canÆt see the end Skies***** back and shock that which canÆt defend The rain then sends dripping an acidic question Forcefully, the power of suggestion Then with the eyes shut looking thought the rust and rot And dust a small spot of light floods the floor And pours over the rusted world of pretend The eyes ease open and its dark again
Moving all around screaming of the ups and downs Pollution manifested in perpetual sound The wheels go round and the sunset creeps behind Street lamps, chain-link and concrete A little piece of paper with a picture drawn floats On down the street till the wind is gone The memory now is like the picture was then When the paperÆs crumpled up it canÆt be perfect again

Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

I wrote this to my friend on the LA Metro who I always sit and talk with and she gave me her notebook of poetry. So I made this poem for her cuz it made me feel poetic...
If thoughts of a summer rain, Could white out the present pain. I'd give it up, just for you, A token of love, just as true. From a chance encounter on a bus, Despite being to shy to make a fuss. You see no beauty within you, From what I see, that is not true. Love is hard, confusing. It is not kind. It's an expert at disrupting our mind. But I know one thing, that is so true. I would give up the summer rain, just for you
/signed. Much love to you too - Wachtmeister |
