Please be aware of a player joining your corp and then stealing everything they have access to. In our case the offender pretended to be a new player wanting help, We helped them and then they reprocessed 20mils worth of ships. we believe that they are using seperate characters to scam and then paying the money into their main characters account. In our case her name was lillia but logged off before we could stop them. although we do not have a problem with being scammed in this way, but we believe that the way in which they are doing it (ie swopping characters) is against the spirit of the game, and if we all did it there wouldnt be any point playing

That is why you never give full access to everyone, especially new people! -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Ive never tried this scamming business, but Id imajine trying to get people to trust you is fun. I try to put my alts into corps who invest alot of time into construction, so I can buy stuff cheap and have a guaranteed supply, tbh I dont see how any corp believes that a 1 week old player has 30-40mil to chuck around. I just dont see how the scammers can rip you off, I suppose it takes a certain mentallity to do so, I just dont have it

This begs the question 'Why did you give a new person access to ships worth 20million ISK?'

one way that gives some protection is, ask for a screenshot of his logging screen so you can see all his alts before giving any cind of access.

Yeah screenshots are a good idea. Anyone remember George Cloney the hanger theif? He became a member of the White Sands Consortium and completely cleaned us out of everything we had available. Bad move leaving it all available in the first place :). We were all trust worthy back then but **** happense. Don't forget forged screenshots, or even second accounts.

Yeah but with a trained eye you can see if the Login screen is forged, there are tells. 2nd check the employment history against each of the alts, see what corps they were in before. 3rd, Don't give new characters acccess to anything you cant easily replace until you have fought back to back with them in combat, and even then not your most valued possessions. Unless you know them in real life, Don't give them access. Because if your real life bud steals from you, you can still go kick his @ss later.

A screen shot is only good for about 12-24 hrs, then an alt can be terminated and another made. Never give a noob complete access, rather limit their access to only one corp hanager, research, factory slot, etc. Never give them access to the corp wallet unless you are very close friends and have a committed understanding of one another. While you do want a player to be a vital asset in the corporation, feel welcomed/accepted on all levels, and enjoy their role, you should never give them complete access to the corps highly valued assets. Only the highest members in the corp such as those on the Board of Directors, CEO, etc are allowed access to most everything. If you suspect that the CEO or someone on the board is vampiring the corp, then the board members have a right to vote against the CEO and replace him/her. Use common sense and realize that new players have to earn trust over time and that the more ISK/assets a corp has, the more tempting it is for someone with deceptive tendenacies. Just my two cents worth of thought on this issue. |

just dont let anyone in your hangers with ships in. Hand valuable things out yourselves, only let trusted characters in. They have no need to have full access. If they complain they are usually thieves, a fair player will say yes, good enough i will earn your trust. Though even then they can take their time and rob you if they have enough time on their hands to spend.

I would like all of you to try something, Email a screenshot to a friend (Trusted) and tell me what the properties say for date created. Heres your first clue when looking at thier file, if its over 8 hours old then Its prolly out of date or faked. I know that theres imaging gurus out there that take less time than that to falsify a login screen, but most wont waste the time. thats time you can spend getting in and stealing from a corp. If theres too much work involved then they move on. Nothing special bout that. also watch for a news clipping, that will help you determine partial authenticity.

It isn't a scam. Read the FAQ... it's called subterfuge... and it's deliberately allowed.
