I just started eve a day ago and made a character and helped a corporation friend with level 3 missions.
I had over 3 million isk saved up. I then decided to remake my character because I didn't like the way I focused the skills.
Because im on a trial account I can't transfer isk to myself.
So I about 15 minutes ago I put a mineral worth 3 isk on the market for 3.19 MILLION isk with the character I just started.
My objective was to buy it from myself and the isk would be transfered.
It seems someone noticed i was doing this, I bought the mineral and when I logged onto my character again Neither had the money...
It seems someone called SomeHondaGuy put the same exact mineral on for the same exact price right after I did.
I ended up buying his, when I tried to message him he was offline it said.
Is there anything I can do against this?

frankly, no. that is within game mechanics, you would have been safer using a direct item exchange contract.

when you went to buy that mineral you bought it from the cheapest seller in the station BUT payed them the 3.19 million, this is just how the market works! (dunno why) they did not scam you, you were not scammed :)

Best bet is to wait for them to come online and ask for your money back. They might be nice about it, especially if its an older player as 3M won't mean much to them. -

If you continue to play Eve, this "minor" loss is peanuts compared to your later losses that will occur as you play on. 3 million may sound like a lot, but it isn't. Welcome to Eve and good luck. By the way, get with a corporation as fast as possible.

hahahahahaha welcome to eve.
Now, a lesson in game mechanics:
If there is the same item for a lower price on the market, you will always send the isk to the person who placed the lower priced item on the market. As a matter of fact, if you do check the market, you will notice that your order is still up.. This is because you bought the item from the other guy, just payed him what you wanted to pay him

This is true, from time to time people pay me a lot more than my asking price for items. It is not a scam, no-one is going to camp a market waiting for that to happen. The probability and payoff are so low it is not worth it.

In the future if you need to transfer isk between your characters, click the "People and Places" icon on your little menu on the left hand side. Click the People tab, type your character's name in the search box, when the results come up, make sure you have found the right one (lots of chars have similar names). Right click -> send money.

His money has NOT disappeared into thin air. The person who sold him the minerals received the full price.
Of course there is nothing that can force the seller to give the ISK back. Petitioning a GM will just get you a generic response stating that such is life.
This is not a bug, this is a feature. It is required to allow market PvP.
If you undercut, your items will ALWAYS sell first. It is how you defeat your competition on the market. There is no way for your competition to sell their items first if you are offering your items for a lower price in the same station.
Same priciple applied to buy orders. The person offering the highest price will always receive the items before a person offering a lower price. There is no way to sell to a lower priced buy order if a higher priced order covers that station.

Yes, they do have it. I have been the recipient of things like this several times and have gotten mails from new people who have made this mistake.
And yes, I've given it back.

Your mistake was in Under-Pricing the item(s)
If you had Over-Priced the item(s) you'd have been fine,
or maybe even doubled your ISK if some over fool bought it(s) !

K my bad, your guys are right. I was under the impression the lowest buy order only got thier asking price.
I just recreated the scenario with my alt, not risking 3.1M ofc. My wallet does show more than the buy order asks for being transfered in to the sellers wallet.

BTW
Old trial Chars can transfer ships and cargo by abandoning ship at a safe-point. ( I've left ships at Safe-Points for months )
New char then just warps to point and jumps in.
Safe-Point: Set Bookmark as warping between station and some far moon - whatever. Drop copy at moon. As long as BM there for new char ... probably Safe :)
Note - Copy by Shift-drag BM to cargohold, plant BM copy in folder - won't just drag into bottom of People and Places.

Chances are there was no actual scam involved here (I'll admit the possibility, but I find it unlikely), just a bit of a misunderstanding. The way the market works isn't quite what you would expect. When you place a sell order, you're setting the minimum price you are willing to accept for the items in question. Usually this is all anyone pays because of how buying an item works.
When you're buying an item what actually happens is you place a buy order with immediate duration, which contains a price per unit, order range, and a maximum and minimum quantity. The market system then resolves the buy order by checking to see if any of the sell orders meet the buy order's requirements and starts from the sell order with the lowest minimum price.
So when the buy order was placed at 1 unit for 3.19 million isk, the market went and found the cheapest unit available for less than 3.19 million isk, matched the orders up and completed the transaction, netting the seller 3.19 million isk and leaving you with one mineral. While not what you intended to happen, the buy order was filled to the letter. --- "Come back with your shield, or on it."
