Here is my question:
I want to pretty much just rat and salvage in 0.6 to 1.0 space. I've been doing mostly Caldari Navy missions out of Jita - but the lag just destroys me in Jita. This plan serves two purposes - 1, to make some money. and 2 - well - I like to blow things up. I dont mind earning rep as well.
I really dont even care what race its for - I just would like to get out of Jita - but I dont want to fly all my stuff somewhere only to discover that the guy is gonna send me to lowsec space. Just not ready to get blown up yet, as I am pretty new and had my fill of pvp in my previous rpg.
I really dont know what corp I should be working for atm, the only thing I care about is not screwing up my standings with Caldari Navy because I worked hard to get to wher e i am with them.
Oh, and I do have connections 3. so most of the lower quality level 2's are available, with some exceptiosn.
Any suggestions?

Here's some clues:
Agents don't send you out of their Region. Thus, in your present case, your agent in Jita will never give you a Mission to Lonetrek even though it's one jump away from Jita.
If you look around Caldari space you will find there are several blocks of hisec systems. That's where you want to be, and so of course does everyone else.
Fly around and take a look at the station traffic: are you seeing lots of Ravens, Drakes, Caracals or Kestrels? Each indicates a different level of Mission and a popular agent offering them. In Motsu/Saila for example it's Ravens, so many that they cause cause system lag.
The reason most people go for Caldari Navy is because it would be the best for combat Missions if Eve was a solo game. And Jita would be the best place to go shopping on a Sunday evening... So you have to compromise, which as it happens is easy as most Mission runners think lag is something they should whine about but not avoid.
I live not far from Jita, I do Missions, I trade in Jita often, and I never get lagged. Well, hardly ever. It can be done, all it takes is a little research.

Your in the most populated area in the game. If you set you map to show pilots in the last 30 mins, the Jita area will glow like a huge red sun. If you check the agent database you can find some remote areas that may not be as crowded. If kill missions is what you want there are other ones besides Command that offer high kill mission amounts.
Internal Security,Security and Intelligence give high amounts.
Your not to far into doing missions so if you found another spot less crowded far away from Jita with another corp to setup shop its not a big loss. Also explore down to .5 as its no different than .6 and will open alot more agents for you. If someone was gonna gank you in .5 they would do it in .6 as well. The rats aren't much different either.
Personally I wouldn't do anything in Jita, seeing 50-100 players in my system is plenty enough for me(lag or no lag), I dont need 600+

I operate out of Oisio, lvl2 command agent there for Cad Navy.
It's security .5 and i get sent into .4 but have not had a problem with pvp.
Whlist it is far from a dead area not had a problem with lag.

Go to the information of the corporation you're working for you can find that either trough the agent or the station. In the information you'll find a tab agents. Look for the agents available to you and where they are located. At the same time you can try to look for the highest quality agents available to you.

Move to Kaunokka (spelling?)there is a top quality level 3 agent there and next system over (system name starts with a V)there is a top quality level 2 agent. This are is a favorite level 3 Navy area and will not send you to lowsec except once in a while for those courier missions (use a shuttle).Sorry it's been a while since i Done Navy missions and since I am at work can't look up the system names.

The Caldari Navy agents in Nourvukaiken (for L2s & 3s) and Tunttaras (L3 only), never sent me into LowSec. They almost never send you more than one hop away for a kill mission, either. These two systems are relatively uncrowded. They are next door to the Forge if you want to hop over and check Jita prices when buying/selling. They also have both have a low quality level 3 when you start running those, and a high quality 3 when your standing gets high enough.
You might as well stick with the Caldari Navy. I honestly think their LP store is the best of any NPC faction for a mission runner. I've been running missions for the Caldari research corps (like Lai Dai) lately to build standing so I can use their L4 R&D agents, and I keep finding annoying gaps in their LP store offers.
