Originally by: Rhoads07 Greetings. I have just been informed that buying ISK is illegal. I was unaware of this. Is this ture or just propaganda? I did buy a small amount of ISK so I need to know and wether I should dispose of it or not. I am sorry if it is illegal. What should I do?
I don't know why people have been treating the op as if he's serious. Can anyone tell me what game allows for the sales of in game items for cash by 3rd parties? If it was a legal means, CCP would be doing it. The combination of knowing to buy isk and not knowing it is illegal is to far a stretch of the imagination. This is a wind up thread.

Some ISK sellers used to have "Certified CCP Seller" (or similiar) stuff on their websites, now add that many fansites use Google adverts linking to these sellers and you have completly confused newbie. I remember at least one guy who thought that he bought ISK from "official seller". It was back in eBay age though.

The main reason they allow the GTC <> ISK conversion is:
People can still use $$$ to obtain isk, it removes some demand. People also knowing that that way is EULA OK will avoid the other ways where they will probably end up paying real life $$$ for nothing.
Being that the target seller is then 'normal' players, you're less likely to cause behaviour that breaks the game (aka 200 people working in a sweatshop for wages).
However, from what I've seen, these isk sellers are using the GTCs to buy their subs. Actually creating alot of the demand, which is good and bad, the bright side is that it decreases teh cost of isk per $ thus making their own 'EULA-illegal' isk worth less.
