The sounds of celebration can be heard in the back ground, Karn speaks, his voice a little slurred, but full of vigor and enthusiasm.
Today marks the 3rd anniversary of concords formal recognition of the freedom fighters of Ushra'Khan.
3 long years spent fighting a constant war against the slavers and those who support them. 3 years of glorious victory, and 3 years of bitter defeat.
Many of the clusters most feared pilots have passed through our ranks, and many remain to fight on. Many are our friends and allies, some who have been enemies and come to fight beside us out mutual respect or a shared goal, some who have steadfastly supported us through thick and thin.
We invite you all to join us today in our bar 'deck23' for celebrations. Drinks on the house. Rumor has it that we will be regaled by tales of the past from our veterans.
We go on. For our people. -----------------------------------------

On behalf of the Star Fraction, I congratulate the Ushra'Khan on reaching this milestone in their history and on remaining undimmed in their fervour through the good times and the bad.
The brave fighters of the Ushra'Khan have shown time and again that the struggle for freedom will go on for so long as but a few or even one continues to believe in the necessity of true liberty.
Ushra'Khan, you have our salute and our good wishes. We are confident that the fight for freedom will have you as amongst its staunchest warriors for many years to come.
Speaking personally, I will try to avail myself of the invitation as I have heard that the Thukker Ale served at deck23 is of redoubtable vintage indeed.

I recall one of my first great battles
A little less than 3 years back when we lived in Istodard I was new to UK and the fight against slavery. The mighty Al haquis was leading a gang. Suddenly yulai (Which was the center of EVERYTHING at the time due to highways) got blobbed due to the a huge CVA Golden fleet about 30 BS's between Gedons and Apocs.
Al was leading and screamed at everyone in aliance to fit a ship with damps and roll. We headed to Oddelulf and were going to wait for the cva fleet. But as usual they stayed in Yulai and being the true freedom fighters we are we brought it to them.
This was my second slaver killing(PVP) op ever. I was assigned to tackle one of the geddons as it was primary. It was destroyed and one by one we took down about 10 BS's. Finally we began to lose cruiser after cruiser and some of our BS's. But we stood to the end.
I think we took out 16 BS's that day while losing pretty much our whole fleet which was mostly t1 cruisers and 6 or so BS's.
I was one of the few tacklers who kept everyone locked down in my rifter.
Al then told me later it made all the diffrence as at the time I truly did not realize how important tackling was.
From that day forward I realized that I would die many more times before this war was truly over.
Good times. . . .Good times

Brothers! Sisters! We are free!!
Now let's go get the others!
A cheer goes up followed by raucous laughter as the inebriated warrior falls off the bar into a crowd of his kin.

One year, five months and two days since I joined the Ushra'Khan. During this time, I have had the priviledge to fly with what I consider to be some of the best warriors and captains in the cluster. I too still remember well the excitement as I rushed my small frigates at hulking battleships in some of the first battles I ever experienced. I remember the expectant lulls of those quiet times before the battle, and the thrill of victory afterwards, or the thrill of being chased by vastly superior (but only in numbers!) forces and getting away.
I remember seeing the unbelievably huge (at least, to me) fleets clash in one of the final battles of 9UY and UNITY station. How I watched hundreds of ships, no more than dots of light and coloured icons painted by the ship's AI against the dark starscape, flow to and fro, a thing alive, almost organic. And the mixed feelings of dread and elation as I ordered my battlecruiser into the fray.
Good times and great battles. And here I drink a toast to all the warriors who fought, fight and will fight under the fist of freedom that is the banner of Ushra'Khan!

Another one of those 'deck23' bars exist?
I remember that when the forces of GOD first conquered Deliverence Reclaimed I took a stroll around the station.
At one point I got to a place where the destruction was total. I figured this had to be where the U'K defenders had made their last stand. Fire had scorched the walls, small arms fire had been plentiful and demolition charges had obvioulsy been set off in various places. Debris was everywhere.
Reflecting for a while on the tenacity of the dead men and women who had fought so hard for a lost cause it was only when I was leaving the area I noticed a sign lying in a corner: "Deck 23: bar".
It was not until later I realized that perhaps no fighting had gone on at this place - perhaps it was simply that the Minmatar terrorists had preferred to destroy deliberately that which they loved most rather than seing it in the hands og GOD's chosen people.
As for what the next 3 years will bring, I will give you this wish: May they see the remains of your alliance scattered in the solar winds, may they see you ships destroyed and yourselves burn in GOD's holy light. May they see your families reclaimed and your children take their first true steps on the path of the righteous. GOD wills it.

Edited by: Evanda Char on 25/11/2007 15:08:10 To all our brothers and sisters in Ushra'Khan, congratulations on reaching this very impressive milestone!
For three years now, Ushra'Khan has stood as a pillar of resolve, a testament carved in stone to the Matari vow of "Never again".
You have been a constant terror to the slavers, a thorn in their sides, the consequence of their actions. A primal incarnation of the principle that "You reap what you sow".
But you've been more than terrorists.
You've been a force for freedom, taking our people from a life of slavery and degredation and teaching them to stand on their own two feet once again.
You've been a voice for change. While I might not always agree that what you say truly represents the best course for all our people, I would never dispute that it needs to be said. The Minmatar people - all of them must constantly think, constantly question what we do, where we are going, if we are going to develop and grow, and become a true nation, able to stand on its own feet. Blind acceptance of simplistic reasoning is the way of the child and the slave. A free man must think for himself, learn to see what is not said, and above all, make his own judgements. And to do that, one must hear all the arguments. You have always been a voice for that, and for that too, I thank you.
And above all, you've been our friends.
Thank you, and congratulations, Ushra'Khan.

At the time my corp and I met the Ushra'Khan we had little to no 0.0 experience. But, we felt the cause was just, and fought side-by-side with our new UK friends.
Times have changed, we moved to our own little section of 0.0 30 jumps away, then back to low sec when it did not work out as we hoped . We have been to war against superior numbers, yet still managed to survive. During these times, the memories, teachings, and the honor that the UK bestowed to us still remained to helped us fight through the odds and survive!
Now we are stronger and smarter (one would hope ) and hope that one day I can payback and honor the U'K for all they have taught me and my corp. Though our corp is a mix of races, we are all honored to call the Ushra'Khan brothers and sisters!
See you all @ Deck 23.

Sepherim took a quick shower in his room. It had been a long, interesting and fruitful, but long day. He needed a rest, but his comm wasn't willing to give it to him. Orange, "Ushra'Khan". Seemed promising. After reading it, he was sure it was promising.
His image appears in the screen with his formal and usual dress. And then he bows, deeply, formally, like a Ni-Kunni would do in front of an Amarrian Holder. Like he usually does in formal situations.
-We don't share goals, we don't share methods, we don't share faith, we don't share nation. We have been enemies in the past and our weapons have crossed more than a couple times. And yet, you deserve my recognition.-
He gets back up, in silence.
-And yet, I bow to you tonight ought of respect. You have proven worthy oponent and a tight-bond organization. I can respect that, and I do. May time bring you a lot of good, but be it far from the Empire.-
The image vanishes as the connection is broken.

Kazan closed his eyes long before his head hit the pillow, and the throbbing in his head was soon engulfed by blissful sleep. It had been one hell of a celebration, in the truest of Matari traditions.
Slowly the sounds of the station faded and to the rhythm of his slow heart beat, Kazans mind echoed the chant that had repeatedly torn through desk23 like a virus, getting louder and louder each time it was sung. He was too tired to consider where it had originated. Like most Matari customs, it had been born generations ago and modified countless times over the centuries.

Ushra'Khan helped me learn what it was to fight for the Republic, they taught me how to bring down our enemies, they showed me the meaning of friendship and teamwork. And lest you forget, it is merely the name that is three years old, the fight has been going on much longer with many of the same names and faces.

I wonder how a galente butcher, like you, a kinslayer, can even look into the mirror evey morning he rises. Or is that why you look like a peasent?

Kinslayer? Hardly. Your arguments really have fallen apart, haven't they? You are left with baseless gibberish - like most Loyalists. Congratulations, you've just lost the last shred of respect I had for you, Laerise. And that was only because I always have a little more respect for the Khanid. Apparently it was misplaced. ----- Mixed Metaphor is now recruiting! Contact me for details. |

I simply hate to be a sour grape, but somehow this doesn't feel right to me.
Fighting wars for over three years is deserving of merit for persistence and bravery, but it's meaningless without purpose. To glorify violence in such a manner only serves to perpetuate the notion that the Ushra'Khan are terrorists and bloodthirsty murderers. To the contrary, I know many of these men and women are kind-hearted and peaceful people driven to fight for what they believe to be right, which is why it's important to have perspective on this matter.
They struggle for the freedom of their people. It would be hard to find a more noble cause to fight for than this, and for the thousands of people freed over the past three years I show my appreciation and admiration for them. Thank you boys and girls.

Being a servant of God, I speak the truth at all times. It is unfortunate my comrade holds certain views, but it is inevitable in the rather liberal pod pilot community that such discrepancies appear. That being said, the Minmatar brought most of their suffering upon themselves--Amarrians have only acted violently in response to transgressions against divine law. Terrorists like UK only bring strife and violence to the peaceful order we establish. How many of those you "free" are brainwashed into becoming your footsoldiers, perpetuators of violence? How many systems have you destabilized in your quest for freedom--a brand of freedom which your own people don't even seem to appreciate, if Gallente immigration rates are any indication.
No, people are only dying for one reason, and that reason is UK.

Tonight a U'K force led by the infamous Maggot attempted to raid Amarr.
We destroyed four battleships, a cruiser, a frigate and their khumaaks - we have driven them back.
We are not afraid of the Ushra'Khan. God has condemned them. They are condemned. God will roast their stomachs in hell.

I have read past reports, it seems that Ushra'Khan has been fighting a war on many fronts and is struggling to maintain what little advances it makes.
But it seems as if that result is still a result to the eyes of the matari.
Keep up the good war effort chaps and may your ancestors guide your hands.

Telemicus pulls his head up off the table and begins speaking to all in earshot. Oblivious to how long he has been drinking and the fact the party has been raging for days.
I remember many battles. Most glorious was during the pirate invasion. The enemy had amassed quite a fleet of battleships outside Unity station. Many of our Brothers were trapped inside.
There were a half dozen of us who had long based ourselves at our lunar bases in the system. I for one lived in 9UY long before Unity station was built so our Sparta Shipyards was my true home there.
Maggot was there and we had a carrier active. El Hek 'The Butcher' took the helm of a Cheetah and started doing close target recce. The rest of us jumped in the smallest & fastest ships we had. We each took a squad of fighters and started randomly moving from moon to moon to mask our approach.
Eventually Butcher told us an enemy Tempest had strayed from the pack. We decended on it like a swarm. It's hull shattered in front of us while his compatriots struggled to hit our tiny vessels. We killed a few that night in wave after wave.
Of course the enemy soon adapted, they were a smart bunch and soon countered our tactics. Glorious days though. Glorious days.
Telemicus slumps back onto the table and begins to snore.

Micia grabbed Telemicus by his hair. Pulling up, and up, and up...
...then down! A good, solid blow against the granite surface of the desk.
"Die in the past, or fight for our future," she hissed.
Waiting several seconds, Micia released her grip. The thickening smoke of tribal offerings made it difficult to sense, sometimes, what was now... and what was felt in spirit.
With a blurry swirl, the moment ended. Her hands were clucthed at nothing... the very vacuum of space became nought. There were no illusions to grasp at anymore. Three years of painful conflict were still as real and brutal as the scars on the backs of liberated co-pilots and crew.
"A pilot once before... a pilot soon again", she vowed. "How could I have forgetten..."

Deck crew bustle behind Chishan, as missile crates bearing the markings of the Caldari Navy are loaded onto a Hound. A strip of black cloth covers her empty right eye socket, crossing a long vertical scar from above the bridge of her nose to her right cheek. She looks towards the camera awkwardly, apparently still trying to adjust to the change in her depth perception.
Clan business has forced my attention to planetside affairs for too long.
Sorry I missed the party, guys. I'm coming home.
Chishan pans the camera to the left, placing stacks of crates bearing the Brutor tribe markings center frame. The camera zooms in to focus on the words, "Finest Brutor Single Malt" before cutting off.

May the Ray of Matar shine brightly upon you in your next three years.
May you never falter in your convictions. The fight against tyranny is a long and bloody one but freedom never fails.
*Illuvian raises his glass* A toast! To the future freedom of those that have been left behind!
