Why are industrial ships able to fit mining lasers? there is really no need for them to be able to do it... it may stop a lot of macro / afk mining as they are pritty much invulnerable to attack.

Mining industrials are not an issue, because it's awfully ineffective to do so.

LoL i've mined in a Indy because it was good for me to make some money when i really was noob: indy is easy to fly with little more then 0 skills and when a noob ppl can use something like 2 hours to make half million and buy a new frigate with equip he is happy.
I think no much noobz read this forum, neither do i when i was using indy to mine and to make money but i do it, without any macro

Indy require lesser skills and (for a noob) lesser money to buy one then a simple cruiser: a noob cannot effort 3millions for a cruiser, when he can buy a Bestower for lesser then 600.000 ISK. And is far better then mine in a frigate ;)
In any case, this is my opinion :)

Edited by: Tarron Sarek on 25/11/2007 19:19:50 They do it because.. I don't know, perhaps they can stay logged in for a long time, but can't afford to sit in front of the computer the whole time.
It's a way of playing the game afk, and imho it's alright, as it's ineffective. If you invest more time (actually playing), you get better rewards.
See, ou invest little attention, you gain little. You invest more, you get more. It's balanced.

There really is no problem with Indy mining. It is rather easy to gank an indy, so you probably will only see in indy miner in upper high sec. The reason people do it, is the huge cargo space, and it is more secure then jetcanning. True, it is rather slow, but that is hardly a problem considering the ease and security. Simply mining in a level 2 frigate is faster, so it does not need to be changed.
