I recently started missioning and I have got to level 3's. So far I was using a Retribution but I want to run level 3's and 4's efficiently. What should I go for? I was looking at the Abaddon but is it really worth the extra isk over the Apocalypse, or should I just cross train to Raven? How much faster is a Raven over an Abaddon for missioning?
Cheers

It really depends on your skills. For level 3's a harbinger, prophecy or zealot does them very easily. If you really want to use a BS then get an armageddon for level 3's (with pulses). For level 4's just get an abbadon, it's just as good as a raven... but then again it depends on your skills. -----------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Cmndr Griff on 25/11/2007 22:21:48 Well I have a few mil in gunnery for lasers, and BS 4 and BC 4 so im okay to fly either with virtually all T2 fittings (bar large pulse lasers). I really like the Sacrilege but I guess that would be a little slow for missioning...

Nope, Sacrilege does fine for level 3 missions, just as good as a Zealot but has the advantage of being able to switch damage types, so it's good vs all rats and not just Bloods and Sanshas.

In a word, yes. the 80 mil or so cost difference is completley ephemeral when you do lvl 4s. You will make that in a playsession or two.
Raven is faster, but if you are planning on flying amarr just stick with them. If you cross train you will just have two sets of half finished skillsets. If you use amarr agents, and stick to missions with NPCs geared towards you, you'll be laughing.
I also perfer beams to pulses in missions, but apparently I'm crazy. ---

A general rule of thumb is that if you fly a laser boat, you should be fighting Sansha, Blood, or Drones only. The Raven is great for missions because it is so versatile; good tank, good dps, good range, easily changed damage types, etc.
Apocalypse is a no no
A properly setup Abaddon on a Blood/Sansha mission can two volley battleships with ease.

Edited by: Cmndr Griff on 25/11/2007 22:54:08 Thanks for your help guys. Due to isk limitations I would be able to spend 100mil total so it looks like it's either the Harbinger or Sacrilege for level 3's. Any idea which? The Harbinger would save me some cash but I do like the versatility of the Sacs missiles...
By the time I am able to run level 4's the Abaddon will be affordable so that's not a problem.

Harbinger will probably crush amarr level 3's[but i must confess, i never ran many of them], especially if you have t2 guns. A prophecy should be plenty as well. The sacriledge would be nice, but its much too expensive for your budget and you need to train missile skills.
