This idea is by Lamb Jalfrezi. I think this great idea has to be posted here for not getting lost.

An alternative solution would be a slide-bar next to the autopilot knob that determines jump accuracy. Maximum accuracy would be like the situation now, you come out of warp ~20km from your target, minimum accuracy would bring you out of warp ~150km from your target. This would ensure that you would almost always have time to see what you are getting yourself into and warp out if necessary. The payoff to this level of safety is longer travel times. So in high sec systems you can move quickly, in low sec systems you need to be more circumspect.
Pirates could still blockade jumpgates, but this cargo-lag exploit would be a thing of the past.

In my imagination it's not only a solution for the lonely traveller. It's also cool for the fleet trying to attack a blocked gate (or whatever). Imagine the fleet coming out of warp. Fleets start approaching, need 2 minutes for getting in weapon range. Formations can be choosen, targets selected and coordinated, ...

That's how I see it Wotok. Gives you time to split into squads. The ECM ships can do their work. A probing attack here, a quick retreat there. I can see tactical battles as the developers intended. I can see screenshots. Beeeeyooootiful screenshots.

Here is what I just did to fix the lag... I cancelled my subscription. I have lost two Ravens in the last two weeks fully decked out with tech II stuff. It took me a long time to build up to them and I get blown up first in a LVL 3 mission and then two weeks later in a LVL 4 mission because I am not able to do anything. Once I finally warp in, I am already blown up. This program sucks. So the best way to solve the lag is to quit. I will take my $20 a month US, and play a different game. Taurus 6345 signing out... for good!

Waaaaaahh, what will we do without Taurus 6345? All the good he's done for our community... grinding the agents nobody wants to grind, copying and pasting one whiny post endlessly around the forum...
I will shed a single, glistening tear every time I remember the great loss EvE suffered this day.
Wuss.

Emm, but that differs from currently possible warping on gate at 100km only by simple 50km. You can have a BM se 50km km before gate and warp to it at 100 :)

...he said "Autopilot warp to distance" :) That is, instead of having the autopilot always jump to 15km, the autopilot would have a customisable "warp to" distance, but still the lowest one at 15km.
That being said, it's still useless... why ? Personally, I wouldn't use autopilot in 0.0 at all unless you're sure it's completely safe in the area and you're not having any instas in the region. And you want "warp to"s to be as close as possible for autopilot. Also, if you use a gang, only the leader has to "gang warp" you, everybody else only clicks on gate and jumps. ___
What you'd really want would be a "formation/gang autopilot" where the current spatial "form" of your gang is preserved, your entire gang warps with equal speed (slowest of ships) and in same grid (if one ship has cap issues in a certain jump), and also waits for ALL ships to get near the gate in jump range, THEN jumps all, THEN rebuilds the initial formation and warps again :P __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |
