Ok, I haven't been able to log in all night. I keep getting getting dumped out of the connection screen.
I've looked in the other threads and there seems to be connection issues since the last patch on all ISPs but what is happening to me sounds suspiciously like the Tiscali 'blocking' problem of old.
Multiple people have stated that Tiscali have blocked the port for Eve during peak times, but when I phoned them I was assured that 'Tiscali do not restrict internet usage in any way.'
So what do I have here? I'm not sure if this is a problem with the patch (although it's been working fine until tonight) or a problem with Tiscali.
I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to get bounced between Tiscali and CCP like a tennis ball until judgement day unless I do something.
What would you do. Vote now....
a) Switch to another ISP and run the risk that it does nothing to help. b) Stay with ISP and wait for a solution from CCP . c) Sell my precious 18mil SP char on ebay and go play WoW

Well firstly they must be lying if they told you they "don't restrict internet usage in any way", as I'm on Tiscali and my P2P software is currently running at 0kbps both ways, and has been all evening, everything else (except Eve) is fine.
I'm stuck with Tiscali for the time being as it's not my connection, but if you can switch ISP (I'm sure other threads list "safe" ISPs) then why not.
I wouldn't suggest the last option. Bad move!

I'd go with a)
I'm with Bulldog (yes I know they are now owned by Tiscali) but I have no connection problems at all.

Put the file on a memory stick of tiny size, or convert it to CD.
Write what you have experienced, the fact that what Tiscali says contradicts this, get the file of a conversation of them denying it and post it all to Ofcom.
Their address is on thier website, and it is the regulatory commission of choice. I had the same problem, switched to Virgin, (speed crappy due to faulty line at my end ) besides that, wonderful!
Also, as what I believe to be the previous poster said, Bulldog has been aquired by Tiscali, and you will experience this problem unless you havea 10mb line and you are lucky. It took Tiscali 4 weeks to intergrat Toucan into thier network, at which point mine went phut

22:20 and I finally logged in. None of the random crashes through inactivity that others have complained of so this is pointing sqarely at Tiscali.
It's only been one night so far and I'm willing to give them a chance, but if I find I cant log in during peak times tomorrow or the day after, it's MAC code time.

Edited by: Imiarr Timshae on 26/11/2007 23:15:21 Let me guess, 2mb connection?
I've got two houses, one with a 2mb Toucan (owned by Tiscali) line. I logged in at 22:19.
We're in the same boat mate, I'll be posting my recording to Ofcom soon enough.

Happened again tonight, Wednesday 28th Nov at 19.10.
Was playing then suddenly got crashed back to desktop. All the same symptoms as Monday then came back.
I'd be interested to know if Timshae found his connection went at the same time.
One more and it's ISP switching time.

Oh dear. I think I'm going to have to rant at a random phone monkey on the Tiscali 'help' line.
It wont do any good and they'll deny that anything is wrong, but what the hell, I'll feel better because I'm well past the 12 month contract point

I just got off the phone to Tiscali after being rather more forceful and they admitted that it is an issue they are working on since the network loads get very high during peak hours. I simply told them that that was their problem and other ISPs seemed to manage ok. So that 'no capping' stuff is total BS.
They asked me to wait for a solution and I told them that this issue had been going on for 6 months already so they could shove it.
Then I told them that I wanted to cancel my subsciption but that their cancellation line is only open during work hours (9-6 mon to fri). So I said I wanted to be able to cancel it right there and then. After 5 minutes of arguing the woman asked if I'd like to be put through to sort it out. Yay!
Guess where she put me through to.... The cancellation line which promtly told me to phone back during work hours!
Tiscali suck big time and I'm switching as soon as I get a day off (might be a while though).
Damn them to Hades.

I for one am NOT convinced its tiscali blocking, i myself have had no issues with tiscali and i have used them for over 18ths, if you perform a an ip trace ( start/cmd/tracert then enter the tq address,87.237.38.200, and have a look at the address it fails at.
Mine fails AFTER the tiscali routers at ccp.ve201.fr3.lon.llnw.net [87.248.208.150]
This is FIVE hops after the last hop performed by tiscali.
Please feel free to check this out for yourselfs and correct me if i am wrong.
but i think its a CCP connection issue.
Regs.
Ged Gedrick Frogue P.S. this also effects evemon which uses naff all bandwidth

Well they have admitted it on the phone now. Also, we all seem to be getting disconnected at the same time, like to the minute. Wierd no?
Anyways, I AM convcinced it's tiscali and will be pursuing them like a rabid dog from now on

Just give it up dude!
They are criminals pure and simple google it they steal from OAPs bank acounts FFS...
I triead to sort out my connection for over 4 months its like talking to mud although mud can somtimes be more interesting.
they lie are rude cant speak or cant be bothered. and DONT CARE
just swap IP "ADSL24 are the best" even if your contract is not up, you can still canncel without charge becuase they broke the contract first by not letting you use it as advertised.
remember to get a MAC code and not Halt the line or they will block youre line for 3 months so you cant get another ISP "yes they realy do that".
good luck on switching.

The thing is, it's only Eve (and P2P software) that has problems connecting, ping commands (and so presumably tracert as well, correct me if I'm wrong here) get through absolutely fine, they aren't blocked at all.
They are only blocking P2P software, and somehow Eve gets blocked as well.
