Hey there folks,
I'm looking to create a hauling account, and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to start a character from scratch that can get into a Freighter as quickly as possible.
What race, bloodline, ancestry, career and specialty would you pick to accomplish this task?
PS - Same thing goes for Mining - fastest into a Hulk.
Thanks!

Well for the Hulk pilot I'm thinking of this choice - what do you think?
Caldari - Achura - Inventors - Industry - Prospector

Are you planning to use that freighter to pick up the jetcans from mining?
If so, freighters can't pick up anything in space.

Nope, not at all. I'm building up the freighter alt for trading purposes and easy move of my operations as needed.
Just looking for the fastest path to a Freighter...what race to use, skill points to assign, etc.

Gallente side of the indie's looks pretty good, you can train up for the iteron V, and use it for a total haul of 38,000 M3+, and then you're about 1-2 weeks away from the Obelisk freighter depending on your skills.

If you're planning to train only ship command skills - then look at Khanid Cyber Knights Brutor Slave Child Brutor Tribal Traditionalists Civire Mercs
These have the highest perception + willpower attributes and so will train ship command skills the fastest. However if you're planning on training other skills on your character - like learning, industry, trade - then you're better off plugging your specific plan into EVEMon and playing with it yourself. It will take quite a few hours to check different character combinations to get shortest training time, but results will be better than anything anyone else can tell you here.

I've never used EVEmon to do that...how do you setup a character in EVEmon that you haven't created yet?

Try EveHQ
Use the Character Creation Plug-in's "Character Goal Seek" feature to set your ultimate end skills and let it calculate the best starting character for you. --------------

Edited by: Grimtor on 03/12/2007 20:04:25 I must be an idiot, because I can't figure out how to do it.
I've installed EVEHQ and went to the character creation plugin, etc...and can't see wher I can set my desired target skills.
How is this done? I can't do anything on the Character Goal Seek page.

Edited by: Vessper on 03/12/2007 20:10:17 If you're using v1.4.0 (i.e. used the installer), use the update feature (Help > Check for Updates) to get the latest - there's a bug in 1.4.0 that won't let it run if you haven't got any characters setup
There's a set of 4 tabs along the top, select the "Character Goal Seek" and just double click the available skills to add them to the list of goals. Increase the level of each skill as required and then hit "Seek Goal". Don't worry about skill pre-reqs, these will be calculated automatically. --------------
