The current log drops look like a fun/nice idea even if they seem to be WAY to common. Right now they are a dime a dozen, and if they are to have any value the drop rate needs to go WAY down.
My fear is that most of these logs simply take you to spawn points for items. This is VERY VERY VERY bad, and make the entire log idea pointless.
Log items/events should not trigger unless the log is present at the location and then it should be "used up". So you travel to a pre-set location and "use" the log to start the mission/find the items. You could say your triggering a locating beacon or sending out code sequence to make contact with someone close by for example.
If they are left as just spawn locations, they will have no value. People will simply build a location of all the spawn points and hit the ones of value every so often.
[Please move this if it should be in Ideas]

Log locations should be random, like random moon or planet. Its fairly easy to do. Location should be triggered by a specific log beeing present in the system. That way they could be fairly rare, and there would be no spawn-point camping.

Are the logs just revealing the NPC spawn point locations or is there something to be found there (besides usual rats and cans) ?

Edited by: Sinjin Smythe on 07/03/2004 15:39:20 Agreed, Just like the treasure maps in UO for example. And add some sort of rating to the logs, like maybe 1-3. 1 being frig npc's at location, 2 frigs + cruisers and 3 frigs, cruisers and battleships. That way you know what to expect and can prepare for it. And the loot at the location should of course match the difficulty.

I let about 10 ppl know about a shiplog I had got, and immideately 3 of them said "Hey, I got that one too". This makes the shiplogs boring, unimportant and a waste of space and time. Make them a lot more rare and I might actually go visit one of the locations.

Well decided to check a log sight out last night and it was a great screen shot. Really nice hidden base with great background. Well worth the 5 jumps i went to get to it. Fear The Bunny

This is what has always angered me about exploring in EVE. There are lots of cool places. But after 1 month of release, they were all public, they had all been visited and there was nothing new. There needs to be some sort or randomness about it. Some way that it's cool to find things. Other wise, exploring is a lame trade. ---------------------------------------
