What about fiding some balance like for example:
Basements: A- maximum cops in the sector, whatever that is today B- maximum sentry range, for example 150
Postulates: 1.0 All weapon systems disabled vs players = no pvp allowed(newbie island) 0.9 Weapons systems working, cops at 0.9A sentries at 0.9B 0.8 Weapons systems working, cops at 0.8A sentries at 0.8B 0.7 Weapons systems working, cops at 0.7A sentries at 0.7B 0.6 Weapons systems working, cops at 0.6A sentries at 0.6B 0.5 Weapons systems working, cops at 0.5A sentries at 0.5B 0.4 Weapons systems working, NO cops sentries at 0.4B 0.3 Weapons systems working, NO cops sentries at 0.3B 0.2 Weapons systems working, NO cops sentries at 0.2B 0.1 Weapons systems working, NO cops sentries at 0.1B 0.0 no rules no sentries no cops its 0.0(hardcore land)
Ideas: 1. A newbie has newbieland 2. The more profitable(mining, hunting, pirating) sector: the lowest security, lawest law, bigger chances to get killed and to kill 3. NO chances for any aggro activity(specialy gate camping) in 1.0 4. Aggro activity(specialy gate camping) in 0.9 and below with proportional ease (0.9 EXTREMELY hard etc)

Hmmm , not a bad id ... i kinde like it , its logical that how lower the sec status is from a certain system the lower your safety is .
I agree there should be a better balance out on sentry s
(btw : you kinde misplaced your thread--->Id lab)

Sentry range should be 400km base.
So in a 0.3 system its like 120km.
And 0.1 its 40km.
You can get 250km optimal range if you really try, so stop whining

With a scorpion, iron ammo, sharpshooter 5 / caldari battleship 4 and all mids filled with tracking computers it might be possible, yes... However, what's the point? You won't do any damage at that range. Edit: Actually I can't see any way to get 250k optimal range without the use of tracking links.

With tech.2 damage mods in all low slots you will. ;)
(not much, but enough to shoot all those "nyah nyah you'll now have to work for your supper you carebear pirates" cruiser/indy pilots...)

48 km base optimal of 425 * 1.25 (sharpshooter 5 skill) * 1.2 (caldari battleship 4 skill) * (1.1^8) (tracking computers, the stacking penalty seems broken on them or change very little?) * 1.6 (iron charge range bonus)
= 247 km optimal. (257 with caldari battleship 5)
then again, you'd need sensor boosters to lock at that range... and if you're using help then you can as well throw some tracking links in there and boost range even further and use heavier ammo.

u can get that 1400mm shoot realy far
and u got lots of room for gyrostabiliser TechII in low
/edit: and dont forget RoF bonus

The new frigates, and you couldnt fight the gate campers at 60k before anyhow. They would just run as soon as damage started to go up.

would be kinda hard to fight corp wars in 1.0 if ur guns wouldn't activate, also would be kinda hard for nubs to learn npc hunting if their guns wouldn't activate. this thread shouldn't be here anyways, take this to the ideas board

1. Did i say anything about corp wars changing? 2. Did i say postulates was vs npc ? 3. This thread is exactly where i wanted it to be srry; if U cant see it i repeat the spirit of suggested changes was to try to balance the penalty from sentries and cops becouse the existing new change was, in my opinion, "to binary".

no they were usually at 60k and you could warp in at 60 and drop in close enough to warp scramble
now even if youre lucky and theyre on a line that you can warp in on youre going to come in 90km away
even a fast frigate isnt going to cover that without the guy warping away or killing it

Notice the "disabled VS PLAYER" I.e. won't actiivate on player ships but will on NPC's. -------- Your 1400mm Howitzer Artillery I perfectly strikes Republic Fleet Testing Facilities, wrecking for 1395.9 damage. (:D)
