Not breathing itsel, but 'staying alive' as in maintaining your body by eating and subsequently (re)growing (skin, hair, other tissues) can give you cancer indeed, and it does so on a minutely basis..fortunatly there are a number of proteins at work in keeping those effects at a minimum Sig removed for the third time, inappropriate content. The oxygen you inhale can cause cancer by building up in areas along your bloodstream when its being carried around the body, causing cancer! So literally, breathing gives you cancer heh!
Of course eating broccoli and beans and such helps prevent it. (and no this wasn't a ploy to get me to eat my greens, since i love greens already :P) --------------------------------------------

I don't plan on living long enough to catch the cancer so this research is not a concern to me.

Ok, so let's see... Heavy smoker ? Check. Not sleeping right ? Hell, check. Excess alcohool ? Check. Not so much lately tho'. Cancer in the family ? Neah, not so much, unless you count my alcohoolic, chain-smoking grandfather since his teenage years finally dying at 80+ from liver cancer after doctors thought initially (at around 75 or so) he had something else entirely.
