YAY I've managed to build a functioning computer from cheap parts. Go me. One little niggly problem though is that I don't seem to have any sound. The motherboard has integrated audio, but how do I get it to come through my headphones?
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a free antivirus program? I use norton on my laptop, but that's more annoying than actually useful.

AVG is okay, but AntiVir is better. And comes with Luke Filewalker.

OK, I don't have any specific sound drivers, but I do have a disk for motherboard drivers and utilities that I should probably use. Thanks 
P.S I've now installed my WiFi card and it works. This is the first forum post from ny new computer. YAY \o/

if you have AC'97 compatible audio, i can recommend downloading the latest drivers
here
That should improve performance a bit. But please make sure your onboard audio is of this type, no need to wreck the new shiny on day 1.

Well the disk that came with the motherboard says it has audio drivers. I shall use it as soon as some other stuff I'm doing finishes.
By the way, since I'm new to this, I'm not entirely certain I've connected the front panel connections properly. On the back panel, there's a clearly marked microphone slot. Which should I use for the headphone/speakers? There are 6 sockets in total back there with names like line in, line out, etc.

If you have plugged the headset into your case ports and it is not working, you may have connected the case to the motherboard wrong. Try plugging it into the back. If you have it plugged into the back, I dont know

OK I've installed the audio drivers from the motherboard CD and I still don't have any sound. Control panel says there are no audio devices detected. I think I may have to actually buy a sound card

I remember when I built my first computer, I completely forgot to install the mobo disc/drivers, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why nothing worked. ****ed me off for HOURS.
