I'm talking about test copy of EVE Premium for SISI. After patch it started up properly, but then my stupidity had shown it's face: I went to graphics options and had set one of Premium related options (I really do not remember exactly what it was, I guess it was shadows related) to EXTREME :)
After change EVE suggested restart to apply changes, but after restart I can't get it up. I see splash screen, when it disappears the second process (ExeFile.exe) starts up and is loading and loading and loading. EVE window isn't created, just that process is visible in task manager.
How I could reset those new settings? Removing prefs.ini didn't help, didn't find anything worth of attention in registry.. Where that setting is being kept?
Thanks :)

I had the same problem last night and ended up reinstalling.
HOWEVER, tonight I had left all the graphics options to default and the client won't start again, for no apparent reason. Seems that it starts fine the first time, then after I quit and restart, it won't come up. Splashscreen only, nothing else, although the process slowly continues to eat memory.
I would have submitted a bug report, but I obviously can't do it in game, and the web based one appears to be down.
I'm using a dual AMD 4800+, dual 7600 GTs with SLI, and 1.5 GB of memory on winXP. I haven't changed any options in either the graphics drivers or the game. ---

interestingly enough, I just restarted with logserver and it keeps repeating
31882007.11.29 23:31:51:5401243 : trinity.TriDevice: HRES:none(none) 31892007.11.29 23:31:51:540There is no D3D device available
Don't know what this means, since the card appears to be fine according the the diagnostics. ---

Everything you see in game is drawn in D3D device (window). It looks like that window isn't created for some reason and not handled properly (typically I would expect program to exit).

Edited by: Hex''Caliber on 30/11/2007 10:55:54 Navigate your way to the prefs.ini file, by default it will be somewhere like C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR WINDOWS ACCOUNT NAME"\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings. Once there delete the prefs.ini this should get the test client up and running again.
There is one other problem atm and that relates to running the current live client after trying out the trinity update. If you find you can't get the live client to launch, delete the user_"RANDOMNUMBER".DAT file and the prefs.ini from the settings folder listed above and the client should start up. You will loose all custom settings though, but this is better than having to install and patch from scratch.
***EDIT*** Forgot to mention if you are in any way worried or suspect about following my advice just move the files somewhere else instead of deleting so you can revert back. The game will auto create new default files if they are not present at start up anyway, but this just gives you a false sense of security .
SISI testing ôDonÆt forget to start the log server before the client; the logs are needed for bug reports when something goes wrong.ö Regards HexCaliber
