I know that not every ship offered in game is worth the isk that you pay for it, but what were these 2 intended for? The slasher i can understand is cheap and easy to hunt some high sec rats with, but the vigil?
Does anyone ever use either of these ships? If so, can you tell me to what end? and how you fit them?

The slasher can be used as a cheap t1 tackler i believe, and the vigil gets a bonus to target painting so im assuming something like an el cheapo ewar boat for young players wanting to try support roles.
sorry i cant offer much in the way of set ups, tho id assume for the slasher mwd and tackle gear, with overdrives and istabs in the lows.
the vigil, well target painters ofcourse but other than that, no idea.
i think the vigil will provide new players with a ship to fly in gang pvp, as with the torp changes the ravens that are gonna be flown will need em, so having a newbie in a frigate to save ur slots sounds like a good idea.
tho most people will just jump into a cruiser asap.

vigil...fastest t1 frig there is.
nothing in highs
MWD, 20km scrambler, cap battery II
overdrive, overdrive, nano
it's wicked fast, missiles won't touch you, and that's not a bad thing for a t1 frig :) oh, it's cap stable with just the mwd going and lasts a few minutes with the 20km going.

I highly recommend the T2 warp disruptor for it... mostly because the extra 4km is really handy for maintaining a high orbit speed.
The Vigil is *ALMOST* an interceptor.

the vigil is _fragile_!!
but try flying it manually... i beat a ceptor with this.

Don't underestimate the Slasher in the fun dept. It can take out any rat in .3 and higher. I enjoy playing cat and mouse with pirates who try to hunt me down while I'm ratting. With how fast the slasher aligns and jumps it can be difficult to lock down if you keep a keen eye on your overview and warp out immediately. and if you get killed so what, even with decent equipment the whole setup is well under a million. my usual setup:
hi's 2 tech2 150mm rocket / or salvager
mid's ab (best i've got laying around) small extender II
low
whatever - overdrive - gyro - istab
