Unfortunately the highest DPI setting is too fast for me :( need to get used to it.
Just waiting on my new KB (g15)

Which G15 are you getting? Please say the "old" version or I will laugh at you!
I will restrict it to an only slight mocking laugh if you were unable to acquire the older model though, I'm nice like that.

g9 is awesome, I thought the whole notion of the changeable grip was so gimmicky, but honestly I love it. Wish there were more grips. Like a Whale mouse Grip :)...There's no real reason you couldn't have a grip significantly bigger than the mouse. The locks seem to be secure enough to take the strain.

Other than that, there's not a lot between them, the new one looks much smaller, which is probably a good thing, it took me a while to get used to finding the left ctrl key without looking, I kept pressing the G keys! It'll be the same on the new 1 I expect, but with only 1 column there it will be easier to notice what is wrong.

Am I missing something? the g9 is a mouse, the g15 is a keyboard.

Neither do I, at any one time. It's nice to have lots of options available. I have 1 set of shortcuts to the programs I use most, one set for eve, and I keep 1 set blank for quick macros or for when I'm playing something like BF2142 and I don't want any odd keys messing up my game (like starting a program and crashing the game as it doesn't like alt-tabbing).
Having said that I'm pretty sure I could cope just fine with fewer keys, I only use them because they are there!

That said, there is a very nice Logitech mouse on display somewhere where I work (I think it's the MX or G-9, not sure) but it's not ambidextrous and is the kind of mouse that once you get used to will make using anything else very uncomfortable, like those ergonomic keyboards with split keys  also as with seemingly all Logitech mice it's very heavy/chunky, which I hate (but some people prefer?)

Mine isn't heavy, but there is a little port in the back where you can put in weights (that you get with the mouse) to make it heavier or lighter depending on what you like

It's horrible. The thumb buttons are right where you place your thumb to grip it, and the shape is so uncomfortable.
The only good feature is the two-mode mouse wheel; frictionless scrolling + click-by-click.

Dude you're speaking blasphemy right now :P. You must have a huge thumb if you can't put it under the buttons comfortably. but but the shape is changable, I would like one grip that's significantly bigger than the mouse itself.
At 1st I thought it was too short compared to the g5, but I got used to it, and it fits quite comfortably in the hand. And I love the possibilities that are left open.

Those new G mice are overrated.
MX518 for the win still.
Also, regarding Razer mice, they're the most hyped crap ever. I've tried so many, rarely found them comfortable, and the Logitech mice were always much better.
Btw, it's more about the mousing surface than your mouse (provided the mouse is decent enough in itself). I strongly recommend Icemat Black 2nd edition, have it for 5 years, and it does not exhibit any signs of wear. Also, getting teflon feet for your mouse is a very good idea.
Just fyi, anything over 400 DPI is pointless, if the mouse is able to deliver those 400 DPI reliably. Not to mention, most of you probably are not aware of the way to reduce your mouse latency (usb port latency) below 8ms (125hz), so all those figures are pointless anyway (you can have 2ms latency (500hz), in both linux and windows which is a huge improvement).
As for mouse sensitivity, there are simple rules:
1) Turn off mouse acceleration, including negative mouse acceleration, do rigorous tests to make sure it's off.
2) Put your mouse in the middle of your mouse mat and set the sensitivity so, that when the mouse is on the side (with 1-2cm leeway) your view in FPS shifts exactly 180 degrees.
After all, you bought your mouse to play FPS? right?
I've quit progaming for quite some time now, but there are still good reasons why you should listen to me.

I agree. The razor designed mice are really uncomfortable. The Habu and DeathAdder are Microsoft designs, with Razor technology. Makes them super comfy and really, really nice to use.

I don't see how people cope without mouse acceleration I mean sure when you want to quickly move the mouse from area A to B then it's fast, but when you only want to make tiny movements (photoshop or even for precise aiming in FPS) then it makes all the difference in the world whilst still allowing you to have the sensitivity to max. when you want to make rapid movements (my mouse goes from left - right of my screen in under 2cm on my desk but I can still move 1 pixel at a time)

I have a perfectly good surface for my mouse tyvm. Just when I had acceleration off my mouse would skip several pixels from the smallest possible movements (on ANY surface) on max. sensitivy, even though it's 1600 DPI.

Yet another person who is clueless about DPI.
If your mouse skips you have either:
a) A crappy mouse
b) A crappy surface
c) So high mouse sensitivity, that you are unable to move one pixel at the sensitivity you are running the mouse at. Refer to what I said about finetuning your sensitivity.
Just fyi, assuming you have no acceleration, and your monitor size is 1280 by 1024, and your mouse surface is 30cm wide. This would mean that for one pixel you would need to move your mouse 0.22mm, I think that with a good mouse mat such precision is no problem at all.
At 400 DPI a mouse can recognize a movement of 0.06mm. Meaning if your mouse skipped you either have shaky hands or your mouse sucks.
