One of the problems with Eve is that you can be a pirate or ore thief all you like, but you can't self police very easily.
CCP wants us to self police largely, but the ingame mechanics don't allow for it.
So here is my solution. Scrap the big guns with 150k ranges. Thats plainly ridiculous. So is allowing an ore thief to be attacked by everyone.
Have player 'deputies' and 'sheriffs' for particular systems who act much as Concord do for all Eve space empire or no.
To be a sheriff or deputy in a system your corp must have an office there. This means that you have jurisdiction is some areas but not in others.
You can also form a 'posse' by forming a gang that then all become temporary deputies whilst a sheriff or deputy is leader in order to hunt the pirate or ore thief down.
When a transgression occurs, a bookmark is automatically added to the deputies bookmark list provided they are in the system, the deputy can then go and investigate the incident. The location of the bookmark moves with the transgressor, provided he/she is still in the system.
And have Shoot on Sight warrants as well. In Empire space these must be against guys with low sec with Concord, but in non empire space this can be against whomever you live allowing corps out in the outer reaches to more easily patrol their own space.

Since jettison mining isn't an intended feature orelifting isn't a crime since anything outside your ship isn't yours any longer but up for grabs.

Then cans should be limited to 100m squared instead of 27,000. ----- Janus "I'm not a stripper, I'm a miner." |

Yeah, that won't result in out of control inflation and complete destruction of the economy. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

and why not?
Isn't that the whole point of this game?

Does the word "corruption" ring a bell for you ?
Just imagine what could happen if the 'sheriff' in a system is friend with some pirates corps, they will be able to do whatever they want in that system without fear of retaliation from the authority
I don't think that your system could work, but maybe i'm wrong !

Only in non empire space.
In empire space if the player is wanted by concord then there would be no protection from authority. ----- Janus "I'm not a stripper, I'm a miner." |

Why this will never work. Sure there will be players who will have good hearted intentions. But most, and I mean 99.99%, of the *****s in this game would get a second account and blast people to hell and back without risk to themselves.
And, jettison can mining was never intended by the devs, well maybe it was, who knows. It is jettisioned, which means its been thrown away. Law states that anything you willfully throw away is up for grabs by anyone who wants it. Thus, your ore is up for grabs.
But a player system like this would never work because of the ****eaters in this game. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |
