There are two problems with getting Trinity to run with a singularity client. First, after manually patching the Sisi Eve version up to date all the setting from the original client were reset to default. Moreover, it seems that now the original client is unable to save setting anymore, it resets with every launch.
Second problem is related to premium content download. It seems that Eve is trying to download to the C: drive, which on my rig is system-only and has only about 1.3 Gb of free space. It is impossible to free more without removing vital software. So, questions as follows: 1) is it possible to download the premium content manually (or at least change the default destination for that download? 2) How large is the download itself, in case it is absolutely impossible to use a work-around?
Tip for the developers: add an option to select download destination and mention the total download size. It is a simple usability guideline.

I had this problem and had to delete the cache to sort it out.

The download to the C: drive is down to BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) which is used to download the premium content. I don't know anything about it to so I don't know if you can change the download location, but knowing Microsoft you probably can't.

Well, the only problem I have is evident on both my desktop and my laptop, in which after downloading all the nice content to try out on Singularity, the verification failed, then tells me to download the patch again...
Say what?
I already let the game download the new graphics 3 times, and each time it gives me the verification error. On top of that, the game doesn't save the file anywhere on the harddrive apparently.

Edited by: ProfitMan on 01/12/2007 23:02:26 It writes one big file named (in my case) BIT80F.tmp to main client cache folder root. (that's in current user profile)

After spending quite some time on reinstalling and reconfiguring Eve I have decided to give Sisi a rest, and just wait until release. What might be of use for someone with similar (space) problem, is a line in prefs.ini:
contentDownloadLocation=
I am not sure whether this setting controls BITS download, but maybe it does. Will know for sure on 5th December I guess.

Hi
For those having the 'Verification' error after content download i got round it by:- 1. Download upgrade (BUT DO NOT APPLY) 2. Start up explorer and navigate too your eve test folder (where you installed your test client) 3. goto the cache folder (make sure you have hidden files showing in explorer) 4. the file BIT??????.TMP copy to another folder ie C:\temp 5. go back too the eve client and now apply patch 6. if verification fails again goto the BITS file in the temporary folder you copied earlier and rename it to BIT?????.exe 7. ONLY CHANGE THE EXTENSION FROM TMP TO EXE 8. Now double click the exe file 9. It will still do a verification test 10. enjoy the new content

I'w done it. Haha! Trinity is magnificent!
1. Don't press "Install Update" when downloads finish (mb missname button, correct it plz) 2. Go to you cache folder root (don't close eve client, it can clear that file, not sure), press Windows-D combination (just to minimize client window (alt-tab mb). Look there for hidden .tmp file 3. Copy file something.tmp (there can be any name with numbers but mast be size of 635MB)to any folder, then or in process, rename it extension to EXE so it will be something.exe (better use some filemaneger like total commander) 4. Now you can restore client and press that Install Update button(It says that file corrupted and so so....) Forget it, and close client 5. Return to you new exe file, launch it...and you'll see standart standalone update. Just select you alternative (test server client NOT CURRENT! )folder and press install. It will take about 1.5Gb and it warn you about it this time. And here we go. P.S. to CCP - Caldari Navy Issue Raven was good in brown and gold colors ;) Anyway NICE ARTWORKS. Sorry for my english. It's 3.25AM here.

One thing I noticed yesterday was that the content upgrade install blew away C:\boot.ini. I'm sure that the intention is to actually delete <EVE Install Folder>\boot.ini. Might need to fix that!

Epic fail for finding a huge Boot.ini bug and not following the correct procedures!
/golfclap
A- Wrong forum for this kind of feedback..Game Development Forum perhaps?
B- If you find a Bug..bug report it...what the whole testing was for.

You fail. A succesful bugreport would have solved a lot of woes. you also posted this in completely the wrong forum.
Game Development Forum is for test server issues. You posted in the forum for Tranquility problems.
So you win the prize for finding the bug, you have it taken back for not reporting it properly.
Oh and you are now a scapegoat. Enjoy!
